Trying to get the KDX200 done. This project has been going on for a long time, and it is time to get it wrapped up.

I love how goofy this couple is yet obviously he is a pretty skilled mechanic. Don't let him fool you, he knows very well what he is doing to get these bikes working :D Also, the wifey is super hot :D Great youtube channel.

Kris Wright- I am a Mustie1 fan also. It's funny, I just suggested to Mustie that he do simple wiring diagrams to show what he is doing and then I discover this channel where he is doing exactly that. I love these channels. I learn a LOT.

I actually like the electrical stuff as much as the mechanical. Also, that hole you drilled will not affect the structural integrity. And your guage cluster does kinda look like my head.

Yet another brilliant episode.. I think I would have made a plate (1/8” aluminium?) to take the speedo/tach unit, which would go under the handlebar mounts, saving you from drilling holes and weakening the triple clamp. It would have put the unit a little further forward, but allowed you to choose the viewing angle by bending the plate. I made something similar on my Chinese 125 to shift the speedo/tach to a better viewing angle. You two are great together, what a YT format! One of my all time favourite channels, I watch and rewatch all your motorcycle episodes. Thanks. Les in UK

why is it brilliant?explain?

Richard Cockerill Well, I don’t see why I have to defend my opinion, but still... I think the whole channel is great because it’s got me back into motorcycling and motorcycle fettling after almost fifty years. Also it has taught me plenty about mechanic-ing older bikes, but more modern than those I used to ride. It is also an amusing and entertaining channel. As I said, brilliant (or ‘enlightening’ if you prefer’), and this episode is as good as many of the others. OK? Now, this is another man’s channel so lets not take up any more of his space for daft discussions. Les

Couple others already suggested it... I highly recommend switching to LED's where ever you can. They are so cheap these days, and since you like to build things you could make your own LED boards if you want. That battery will deal with LED's NO problem.

Wow when is drilling through something used for structural support a good idea especially the way this bike is design bad idea in my opinion
@SilverCanary16 жыл бұрын
when something needs to be fitted to or through said structural support is a good time to drill through it. the only way to avoid doing it is to fix/weld everything to everything which is not practical and in this case use a different speedo which they aren't prepared to do. just using a screw is making a hole in a structural support. its not a big deal...

I had a KDX 200 back in the day and loved it! Rode the crap out of it and it never quit on me. Here in my state I was able to tag it with out an inspection so no turn signals or speedo and rode it to my riding areas without much problem. Got stopped one time and the officer was pretty cool about it, was more interested in the bike than me and told me to be careful and have a good day!

The term for the stator modification is called floating the ground. People seem upset about the hole,. I'm like you in that we'll find out how it works when it's ridden. I'm impressed by the factory snap of the install of the battery box! Well done! The bike is coming together!
@niceguy21716 жыл бұрын
Get 'em straightened out Jenn, although I was fairly proud of him UNTIL he made that Large hole in the front critical support piece! If it breaks..it will only mean all control is gone, the front end will most likely fall off, and leave sharp pieces to greet the riders face ;( just wish he drilled it to where it was a tight fit to get the cable through..and oh yeah, did I mention I hope he didn't 'rob' enough parts off YOUR bike to keep you a nice safe dirt bike in that lovely lime green all of your own? Well I did now! And hope he knows your interjected comments at crucial times makes the videos interesting ;) stay safe you all..even if that means I'll take the first ride on the bike..although I'm wearing a full face helmet for this one! Can't wait to see the finish video(s) including your dirt bike going again too, maybe you riding around your property on it, together on a ride.

Owned a KDX200 20+ years ago, was such a great bike. I eventually pulled it down and sprayed the frame dark grey, had a lot of parts re-plated and polished the swing arm and fork legs - like you, I had issues refitting the wiring harness so had to whip it down to my local bike shop. When I went in to pick it up there were three blokes checking it out, they couldn't work out what it was and thought it was new, I kicked the stand out and told them it was a 90 model KDX200, they freaked out! Think I sold it for $2700 AUD, which was what I paid for it ☺

This was nostalgic, reminds me of all the electrical work I had to do on my 72 F7 Enduro to get it street legal. Luckily it still had everything but the lights and some of the wiring left on it. The weak little 6v battery though doesn't give enough juice to prevent the flashing effect fully, but the headlight runs on AC in that bike, so it's only the tail light that blinks with the signals.
