When I first started making cards, I followed other card makers and made A2 sized. My family, however, thought they were too small, so I started making larger sizes. I now ONLY make 4x6, 5x7, and slimline. There are so many beautiful products (coverplates, dies, and embossing folders) that I have to pass on because they don't fit my cards properly. I was over the moon when I saw Honey Bee Stamps came out with 5x7 nesting scalloped frames! Finally, I had something pretty I could use. I also didn't feel left out of the trends anymore. Thank you, Jennifer, for making this video. I never thought of changing the 'size' of my dies. I will now be able to buy beautiful products that I couldn't buy before. I apologize if I sound redundant... but thank you, thank you, thank you!! 🙏🩷

Hi Jennifer. In the Uk. 5x7, 6x6 and A5 cards are very popular. It costs the same to post A5 as A6. Thank you for spreading so much kindness. I really appreciate all the inspiration xoxoxo

Yay ! 5x7 is the size people buy more on card shops or larger. In the UK people think the bigger the card the bigger the love 😂. Absolutely incredible cards . X

I prefer the 5 x 7 card and have been making those for so long, the traditional A2 seems so small.

5 x 7 products are my favorite, they can always fill their intended size and be cut down for an A2 or slimline, win, win!!!!💜💜💜💜

Thank you so much for acknowledging this card size (5x6.5 also) I work primarily in this size. It gives me so much for space for creativity. Also lets be real; THIS is a greeting card. Check the stores. The A-2 is just a note card. It always gets on my nerves that the industry refers to them as "standard size" I do find ways to use the little dies on my full size greeting cards, but it is frustrating that SO many things are really too small for what I do. As such an influential papercrafting leader, I hope you will let the manufacturers know how much we would like dies etc. to be sized up for the actual "standard" greeting card. A shout out to Spellbinders for making embossing folders larger!!! More please!!!

Thank you so much! This is really helpful as I mainly make 5x7 and slimline. The only time I make A2 is for some thank you cards. I too love the Spellbinders embossing folders because they can be used for various card sizes.

So beautiful! You always make such gorgeous cards! You are such an inspiration! It’s thanks to you that I am going to try to do stitching on my cards. I am subscribed to the Spellbinder’s Deluxe Caboodle Club so I will be getting dies for stitching. I’m glad you did some 5 x 7 cards. I prefer 5 x 7 cards. The A2 cards are just so small.

Thanks for a very useful (as usual) set of tips for 5x7 cards. Bigger cards are also a good way to start using up a stash! It's a slow but steady use of materials.

Especially loved Bibi's Hummingbirds. Can you please do the opposite in future, make smaller cards ? Craft shops seem to sell cards in small sizes that are awkward to decorate, some help doing so would be gladly appreciated.

I’ll stick to the A5 with regular materials and leave the 5x7 cards to my Anna Griffin supplies as all of her items are made for 5x7. So many pretty cards, I love this new line from Bibi I have them all on my wish list. When I get paid again this month I will be getting some of them and then next month the rest of the line. My parents loved hummingbirds and had over 10 feeders at different places in the garden and would sit and watch them throughout the day. Every time I see one I think of them in Heaven watching the birds.

I love 5x7 cards and they are great for when you need a card that is large enough for multiple people to sign, etc. I just wish I could find more cover plate dies for 5x7. I often use my silhouette Cameo to make coverplate die cuts for 5x7 cards. Great video!

Thank you thank you thank you Jennifer! I am a 5x7 cardmaker and always feel left out when there's a pierced coverplate or the like. I wait and wait - I didn't know that 5x7 is not a standard for the craft companies, so I may be waiting forever!

My card hero! Yay I love 5x7 & slimline sizes. Great video! I’m so used to seeing Becca Feeken make her big 5x7 APGs also size down to fit A2. (I really miss her). It’s really refreshing to see things go bigger and you nailed it 🎉 Of course now my reasoning to not buy something, “it’s too small for my taste” just got weaker lol 😂

Thank you for this video. It is great to see how to make a A7 card using products meant for other sizes. I have seen that waffle flower has a layering A6 die and i was wondering if you did cards in this size? I am a curious to try it as it is a bit bigger than an A2 but not so big as an A7 which i find is harder to get nice envelopes for. I tend to make my own but then only for special occasions. I love your teaching style and that you help me with ideas to stretch my increasing stash!!

Beautiful cards! BTW…almost everything Anna Griffin has is for 5 x 7 cards, there are some slimline and square things thrown in but almost all of her dies are for 5 x 7.v

I like 5x7 cards, however you do not get two cards out of 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

I have started using 12x18 card stock for my card bases. I get 2 5x7 bases and use the scraps for bookmarks or die cutting smaller pieces.

Hello 👋 when I make my 5x7 cards, I keep the scrap pieces from that one 8.5x11 sheet. I use the scraps for layering die cuts, which come in handy when I'm out of double-sided foam tape. I'll even use the scrap pieces for swatches. 😊

We spend so much on supplies, why skimp on the card size. I have lots of colored paper, that it is not a waste to me. How many cards do you do a year? Them A2 can be justified. How much money in ink, stamps, dies, or even supplies for electronic die cutting machines do we spend? I only have dies, so the money I save on the rest means I can make a bigger card. A2 is just too small for me. I've been making 5x7 cards exclusively since 2010. Thanks for thinking of the 5x7 card community ❤

What size/type of standard US cardstock does one buy to make 5 x7 bases? Biggest I have is 12x12.

8.8x11 or 12x12 will work but you will only get one card.
