I dug up my dusty old Wizards of the Coast Power of the Jedi Sourcebook and the Dark Side Sourcebook and found that Plo Koon has Str: 13, Dex: 14, Con: 14, Int: 15, Wis:13, and Cha: 14. Ulic Qel Droma, as a Jedi, has Str: 16, Dex: 16, Con 18, Int: 14, Wis:13, Cha 14. As a Sith Lord, Ulic has Str: 16, Dex: 16, Con: 16, Int: 14, Wis: 14, and Cha: 14. Plo and both versions of Ulic have Power Attack, but both versions of Ulic give him Weapon Focus (lightsaber), while Plo is credited with Cleave, Great Cleave, and Sunder, but not Weapon Focus (lightsaber). Both have similar skill levels in Enhance Ability. In short, Ulic is stronger, tougher, and more agile, than Plo, the difference in their intelligence is slight (in-game it would be the same +2 bonus to rolls), and Ulic has a greater technical grasp of lightsaber combat while Plo has a wider variety of strength-oriented attack options. Later sources prolly rate these characters a bit differently, especially when it comes to Plo Koon's abilities. Nevertheless, I don't see Plo single-handedly dominating a full-blown Sith Lord when Savage Oppress nearly wrecked him with a cheap shot at his anti-ox mask. I favor this match in light of Jensaarai's Koon v. Vader video. We all know that what makes that match interesting is Koon and Vader representing Shien and Djem So respectively, and the light and dark sides of Form V's martial philosophy, respectively. I agreed with Jensaarai's assessment that Koon, though a worthy opponent, would ultimately lose to Vader because Vader surpasses him in physicality, Force ability, skill, and tactics. Ulic Qel Droma, as a Sith Lord, is similar to Vader as a representative of Djem So and Form V's dark side, but he wasn't the Chosen One in a cybernetic suit, nor a maimed martial artist who had to rebuild his style from the ground up. He was a Form V specialist with a good track record in dueling and battlefield engagements, who operated as a military tactician and front-line leader. He was very similar to Plo Koon in these regards. Key points to consider are that Plo might be a slightly superior tactician and has Electric Judgment, while Ulic is younger, more durable, has dark armor, and, according to the Dark Side Sourcebook, a Sith Amulet. Also, according to Jensaarai, Warb Null would beat Savage Oppress. It would be ridiculous to say "Ulic beat Warb, who would beat Savage, who almost took out Plo once, therefore Ulic beats Plo." Still the fact that Ulic beat Warb Null (who was more sophisticated and better equipped than Savage Oppress) decisively as a Jedi Knight while Plo Koon was blindsided by Savage Oppress as a Jedi Master is at least interesting, and I think it would be fun to examine the factors at play in their engagements with "the blind instruments".

Luke did not “beat” Vader. Vader did not want to kill his son, he held himself back. That’s been made clear as day by multiple people like a thousand times over the years now…. Anakin would whomp luke pre-suit. He was a far better swordsman and had more actual strength, Luke was more skillful, he had more knowledge, more depth, but Anakin was stronger, and a better duelist, he was the master of the physical side of the force. Lucas said himself that luke would never be able to defeat his father in direct contest of strength. And when the blades are ignited it’s not even close, Anakin wins.
