Upgrade to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware

Күн бұрынIn this video, I will explain how to upgrade an existing Windows 10 installation to Windows 11 for unsupported hardware. There might be different methods to overcome the hardware check but this one definitely works.
I'll be performing this upgrade on a Dell Optiplex 9020 which does not have a supported CPU, no TPM nor secure boot. This is possible by combining the Windows 10 installer with the Windows 11 installation files.

Thank you for your instruction. It works perfectly. I had many issues when trying to installingn windows 11. None of them works on other sites. My MB has no header for TPM and it does not support security boot. Following your instr, I was able to complete the Win 11 installation. It is perfecto. Thanks again.

Just a follow up to my previous comment. I updated my older system using this exact method today and it worked perfectly. Currently trialling WIN11 on a separate (duplicated) boot drive. Not seeing any performance issues and all seems to be ok! Once again thank you for this content.... much appreciated. I have subscribed.

I have a 2010 asus pc. 2.8 ghz AMD Athlon X2 processor 16gb ddr3 475gb hard drive. Was running windows 10 pro. I followed these steps exactly and upgraded to win11 pro. I didn't mess with tpm or anything else really just followed these steps. Worked great. Also windows update ran this morning downloaded 2 updates. I read somewhere about not being able to get updates on unsupported processors after doing this but haven't had that issue yet. GREAT VIDEO

Excellent way to update to WIN 11 and it worked. I did use the advice from this video, and everything was fine including the software updates. However, I have to say, that my new Alienware 17 laptop top of the range was ready to be updated to WIN 11 anyhow. It took only two weeks after Dell came up with the installation facility. I am happy about your video as I had another computer that was not updatable, and it worked fine. Thank you for your well to understand documentary.

Outstanding! The installation process worked just as you said from start to finish even a year later and the process you provided was/is a lot better than most. I am using the Dell Optiplex 9020 with an i7 4790 and the system is about as fast or if not faster than Windows 10 on the same system. Great video.

It worked! It didn't work the first couple times I tried to install, but that's because I forgot to change the "Get updates, drivers, and optional features" selection to "Not right now." After doing that, it installed successfully, and my Thinkpad is now running Windows 11. Thank you!

I had this problem, but i solved it by extract the windows 11 iso and delete appraiserres.dll file in the sources folder and run the setup again

@@Drew1903SG there’s nothing illegal about this, Microsoft can be to blame for blocking out so many systems from running this OS, they all talk us down because of E waste but they are the ones creating E waste for making millions of systems obsolete in the next few years before they discontinue windows 10, people will always find ways around things.

"Blame" is something one attaches to bad things & the Win11 hardware requirements are nothing but a good thing, something brilliant as computing moves into the future & really it's something that is way overdue. Does not have to be "illegal" to be a bad or misguided thing.

Don't know how you figured out this install, pure genius! Very much appreciated as this saves me from buying new hardware for a while. My setup has no TPM header and running AMD A10-7850K Radeon R7 about five years old.

Hey there! Thanks for the video, currently trying to upgrade it! Wish me luck🤞 I'll update as soon as I can. Edit: I'm back lol, it really works (for now), my laptop has a processor of Intel Core i3-7020U and 4 GB RAM, Windows 11 runs smoothly like fluid here, no big problem. All you need to do is to follow the steps and you're good to go. About the "update problem", my laptop is up to date at the moment, so we'll wait. Only time can tell.

@@AS-xe3qj As it relates to getting updates. So far I have visited windows updates using windows 11 and I have received windows defender updates for the built in anti virus. When Microsoft puts out any other update I will check back to see if any of them are available to my unsupported hardware but now I can say for sure you will get updates for your built in antivirus

Win11 needs SSD to be GPT not mbr and Bios - turn on security-related TPM2 IT Will re format the ssd to GPT anyway Dont rush into Win11 IF you cut corners further updates win11 issues etc Just wait & see when its more stable for win10 user updates Safer

Be aware that if you download the Windows 10 ISO using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool you will not get an install.wim file but an install.esd file instead. The esd file is a more compressed version of the wim file and the total ISO will be smaller as well. It looks like either type file will work for a Windows 10 installation but I am guessing you would not want both files in the same folder. I did not try deleting the existing esd file after I noticed I did not get a warning about overlaying an existing wim file. I just downloaded the Windows 10 ISO over again using the method shown in the video and did get a wim file instead of an esd file. The update worked just fine with the replaced wim file.

@@SovatOung I am guessing that you should be able to delete the install.esd and copy in the install.wim from Windows 11. I say this based on the fact and esd file can be converted to a less compact wim file. I did not do a folder compare to see if the Sources folder was the same between the two mounted Windows 10 ISO files minus the install.esd and install.wim files. Microsoft might be assuming and esd file will be present instead of a wim so I wend back and downloaded the other ISO and that method as shown in the video worked just fine. If you delete the esd file and copy in the wim file let us know if it works as well.

Just a note that if you have a problem with the upgrade failing when you run 'setup', you should try right clicking 'setup' and running as administrator. I have several computers and some failed the upgrade at first but when I did this 'run as administrator' they worked just fine.

And take out any usb in the computer, cuz i had my usb plugged in and the setup would not launch and keep loading forever
