Typically 230 episodes are produced for regular syndication (including TOC), and then primetime specials add to that (Masters, Celebrity), so he’d have to be around for another 3-4 seasons

As a child of the 60s, I remember the original daytime Jeopardy hosted by Art Fleming. I heard he was offered a chance to do the new /current version but he didn't want to leave New York. His then announcer was Don Pardo who stayed at NBC to be the announcer for Saturday Night Live.

@wmst5065 Oh, there's still many of us around who remember Art Fleming's daytime version....and are grateful that Don Pardo went on to do SNL for so many decades. I get what you're saying, though -- the nighttime version probably has more visibility, definitely more longevity, and an incredible legacy from Alex.

@@zoepaulastrassfield2664 The movie "Airplane" or maybe "Airplane II" had a silly scene where they showed the real Art Fleming on a fake Jeopardy set doing a scene as a response to the line "That will put us in Jeopardy"

Johnny is still very sharp for his age of 95! He looks good for his age well! Now if I understand correctly, he doesn't do announcements in studio that much anymore, if he's not there, Sarah does the in studio announcements and they add Johnny's post production which he records at his home. I'm sure Alex was looking down smiling at this moment

I can remember watching Johnny Gilbert host Music Bingo when I was a little kid. And here he is, not hosting but announcing dozens of game shows for the past 65 years. And here I am, still listening to him. Bravo, Johnny.

As I think about Johnny Gilbert going onward; he's 95 years old and it saddens me to think that in 5 years he'll be 100. I would love to see him go on and on but realise he will have to retire soon.

9000 ep's of the Alex version, what about Art Fleming?

Approximately 2,900 -- most of the Fleming episodes are lost but we do have the final episode of the original NBC show, where Don Pardo says he's introducing him "for the 2,753rd time", and then there were 108 episodes of The All-New Jeopardy in 1978-79. There were also 39 syndicated weekly episodes that overlapped with some of the original NBC run but i'm not sure if the 2,753 count already included those, so the total should be either 2,861 or 2,900. In The Jeopardy Book in 1990, Merv Griffin was quoted as saying there were 2,858 Fleming episodes; not sure where that slight discrepancy comes from.

In the 9000th game, I was put off by the host and judges for not being fair when they wouldn't allow the black man's answer because he didn't say the whole name, yet later on, the host said to the eventual winner who answered with a partial name and said "I need the whole name". It changed the momentum of the game and was unfair.
