Why can’t I lose weight, why can’t I lose belly fat, and why am I not losing fat on a calorie deficit are a few questions we will hope to resolve in this video. Many people put a lot of time into how to lose body fat, but do not see any progress. Inevitably, they eventually give up. The reason people don’t lose body weight and can’t lose belly fat is not genetic, because of metabolism, or age… And in this video I will go over a few common mistakes after which correcting will allow you to start burning stubborn body fat and see the results your hard work deserves.
First and foremost, caloric intake is the key factor in determining body weight. You may be asking: what should I eat to lose fat? Many people claim they eat less calories than they actually do. Research in the field shows that most people significantly underestimate their calorie intake, and thus can’t lose fat. So, how can you avoid this costly mistake and how to lose fat quickly? Simply use a food scale to weight the food you are going to eat. You should also use an application like MyFitnessPal to track the calories in these foods. This will give you a better sense of the actual calories you are eating and allow you to make adjustments as you figure out how to eat to lose fat. The last thing to remember is seemingly small number of hidden calories, such as a little oil, salad dressing, ketchup, or bite of a chocolate bar which can add up to hundreds of calories altogether and prevent you from attaining your weight loss goals.
What else can you do to burn fat, especially fat below the belly button and why can’t you lose weight? Well, you need to keep track of your progress and the way to do that is weighing yourself. As shown in the video, you have to be consistent in the taking your body weight.You write down your body weight each day and average each set weekly to account for daily fluctuations. Comparing weekly averages can help you decide what step to take to keep inline with your weight loss goals.
The best way to lose weight fast is to avoid overeating. Many people eat back the calories they have burned after an intense workout, especially if they have done cardio. This can prevent fat loss altogether. This is even worse, because people tend to significantly overestimate the calories they burn in a workout. Even machines designed to do so are not reliable and tend to overestimate the calories used up in a workout routine. A better method would be to set daily calorie limits and weekly workout routines and stick to them as you track your average weekly weight - you can decrease caloric intake or increase weekly cardio if you are not losing weight as quickly as you want to be.
What is another common mistake you might be making that is preventing you from losing body weight, including stubborn belly fat or love handles? Relying on the scale to tracking weight loss is a big mistake. If you are new to training, coming back from an extended leave, or just getting serious about working out, you may be losing fat and gaining muscle - this may look like a stable body weight. But in reality, you are undergoing body recomposition. If your waist girth has decreased, arm girth is greater, and you are lifting more in the gym, despite weighing the same amount, then you can rest assured that you are making progress and have replaced body fat, especially fat on the stomach with lean muscle mass.

im worried over here because for some reason im not getting any weight fluctuation. im on my fourth day of cutting for the first time ever. every morning i weight myself with an empty stomach and after using the bathroom. from what i see in my notes is that im losing weight at a constant rate. am i doing something wrong ? do i need to see a weight fluctuation ? this concerns me because what if week 2 my weight continues going down with no pattern.

True that. You can exercise all you want, if you don't give your body the healthy stuff it needs, you'll end up getting sick and mess up your metabolism. That's why all those "I love fast food but I exercise and therefore I'm healthy and skinny"-people annoy the f outta me. It might be true if stepping on a scale but they are slowly ruining their health. 😱 They would certainly not put crap and toothpaste in their gas tanks and expect their vehicles to run smoothly for the next 10k kilometers, either.

@Golden Goose That might be true, the body is extremely adaptable so it has no negative consequences for a certain amount of time. But you can't eat shitty for years on and expect to stay perfectly healthy. It's the same with smoking or drugs. Your body can handle it for quite some time but in the end it will be devastating and the damage might be permanent.

@Golden Goose I would assume whatever you were eating as far as calories were burned off with the ridiculous amount of energy you exerted. But for the average person they are not going to do that extreme activity on a daily basis. I think swimmers eat high calories...but they exert a ton of energy daily.

@@yandareshwty a general rule that works really well is if you don't know personally what all the food is made up of then avoid it. A good example is bread, if you don't know or understand every step in the process of making it (yeast, flower, water, Something else?) But where does that yeast come from how do they get it how is the flower processed. The simpler (more basic) your food is most often times the better. I love devouring food so i do one meal a day and eat 1660-1780 calories a day, very easy to track since i consume zero calories before or after my meal and know exactly how much i am getting in that 30 minute eating window. Another good tip is make your body wait a few hours after working out so it has time to rest and relize it is or isn't as hungry as it thought it was when it was screaming out for energy consumption after a hard workout. i used to weigh 250 something and now stay in the 165 to 170 range, so i know the struggles of "diet" and the like. Whatever you end up doing make sure its a life change and not a temporary thing or it will never last (fallen into that trap a time or 2). Good luck!

It's been 3 months since i started, i've lost 46lbs and i'm still continuing. I went from 205lbs to 159lbs. This last month has been especially slow, but i won't quit. I'm going to achieve my goal once and for all. It just needs some patience.

I was struggling to lose weight for a very long time. I was working out but I also love to eat. At one point I was thinking that I was going to be fat for the rest of my life until I started eating properly. Good diet is a key. Obviously I had no clue what to eat and how much. I had to invest in meal plan from Next Level Diet. It wasnt expensive and helped me start losing weight and eat properly. Now Im thinking about getting personal fitness coach to help me learn how to plan and do exercises properly.

I've been exercising weekly for the last few months, I can feel myself getting stronger, but the fat is not budging at all! My belly fat is the same like it always was. I'm definitely underestimating my calorie intake, even though I'm making healthy meals, I tend to snack a lot fruits and nuts, or order what seems to be healthy take outs. I need to stick with my calorie counting.

Foods can be healthy but still be calorie dense. And eating too much of healthy calorie dense foods can put you out of a calorie deficit thereby stopping you from losing fat. A great example is nuts or bananas. While they are healthy they are still calorie dense foods that you can easily over eat . So that’s why you have to count your calories and make sure what you’re eating fits ur calorie defecit. A better option is to choose foods which are nutrient dense yet low in calories like spinach for example or eggs.

yeah, calorie deficits take a lot of getting used to. You will know you're at a deficit when you've eaten a relatively acceptable amount of macros but you're STARVING. That my friend is your body craving carbs, salt, and sugar. But, you will also realize the deficit is working when you eventually get used to the feeling. After a few weeks, you're used to it. A piece of gum suffices, or even an apple. For me, before bedtime hunger was the enemy. I would eat the shit out of healthy food even, just wrecking my progress. Like, upwards of 800 calories (2 protein bars and a peanut butter sandwich. All natural ingredients too.) My point is, yes, calorie deficit is a no bullshit lifestyle. You'll know when you're doing it. It's brutal at first.

@@maxlee6676 the real killer is actually the copious amounts of oil and sugar. A deadly combo. One or the other, depending on diet, would work fine. But they dump tons of both in. Look at labels, first ingredient is usually oil, even in a "vinegarette" dressing. It is shameful.

I have been trying for years to lose some fat. It was really hard. Intermittent fasting was one of the hardest things I tried to do in my life. You need so much mental strength to go through day while fasting. I am currently experimenting with Nextlevel Diet and it has been working super great for me. I could recommend it to everyone, especially beginners.

Stuff like this reassures me that I’m doing fine. 2 months ago I could barely do 5 push-ups and 2 pull-ups. Now I can do 20 and 10. The scale says I haven’t changed weight and visually I don’t notice any differences, but I’m getting stronger. So I figure I‘m just going through a body recomposition since I haven’t really done anything in 5 years

This is exactly me, so glad to see someone else experiencing the same thing. My weight hasn't changed and I don't see any difference, but I can now do regular push-ups for 30 seconds when I could barely do a couple of kneeling push ups when I started.

eat really slow after a workout .. you will get full with less.. -this is the best tip that I have found to control hunger... Strangely for me I don't feel hungry after workouts. I feel full and around an hour after the workout I feel really hungry..

Tip: DONT DRINK YOUR CALORIES. What i mean by that is that you shouldn’t drink stuff with lots of calories in it because it doesn’t make you feel full, so you will need to eat to feel full. And that’s how you take in too much calories.

How I lost fat: 800 to 1200 calories per day, six mile runs 5 days a week for 3 months. 200 to 155, Size 38 waist to size 31. It was hell, but it was worth it.

Well but eating 800-1200 calories a day is not healthy at all. And then on top running 6 miles for 5 days a week and still just eating those amounts of calories is dangerously low. I mean yeah you lost a lot of weight this way but it isnt sustainable or healthy at all. Moderate calorie loss is much better for really keeping the weight after losing it and to provide a jojo effect. So congrats on getting to your goal but keep the things i just said in mind

@@umutumut4810 Not 800-1200 alone. 800-1200 net. Should have clarified. Actual intake was somewhere between 1500-1800. I took vitamin and mineral supplements to avoid excessive deficiency. Also, absolutely no added sugar. I really don't think this is unhealthy. Diet was lean chicken or salmon, tuna sushi, salad, black coffee, water, eggs, grapefruit, nuts, potatoes, broccoli, apples and cheese.

I needed this video. I've been at it aggressively for about 14 weeks and have been struggling with the scale. I've been tracking food and everything. Had to adjust the diet a few weeks ago though to get macros right. The scale has moved roughly 4 lbs in this time but I've been visibly building muscle and am lifting 3 x the amount on some exercises. I'll be keeping up the grind!!!!

When I first cut back I was SO hungry. After a bit though I didn’t miss the extra calories. I ended up losing an average of 1 lb a week. That was ok for me. Many ppl lose a lot faster but I’m down 25 lbs. I wanted to lose weight to be able to have more energy with my kids.

The Knightwalker lol I do, I struggle to eat 2200 calories which is bulking for me considering I’m pretty short, have a desk job, and don’t do cardio. I’ve been stuck at 155 for a few months now and can’t go past that. 2200 is already hard for me that dinner I’m basically shoving down my throat. Loosening fat for me is pretty easy, bulking is the hardest. I’ve stopped gaining weight 😭

@@Adrian16Z Don't eat huge meals, eat smaller but more. Snack on nuts. Drink lean mass gainers (not cheapo ones full of sugar) they can be 1000kcal+ in each one. If you don't fancy that, get powdered oats and add them to whey. Eat a lot of eggs and tuna.

that graph of the downward trend of your weight made me feel so much calmer. i’m working out religiously everyday, weighing my food on a scale, tracking everything down to macros, and weighing myself daily at the same time everyday. i keep getting 1-2lb spikes and it makes me feel defeated, but being reassured that it’s normal has calmed my sad mind.

Those spikes are really annoying. One day you're down 1kg, the other day you're up 1.5kg. Then down again, up again. It gets annoying to differentiate between actual and water weight.

@B Smoove Ive done keto along with IF and pretty much any fad diet that has been around since 2005...Ive lost weight doing all of them but at the end of the day even if you are doing the keto diet you will not lose weight if you eat too many calories. People do not understand the simple science behind any of it and at the end of the day its thermodynamics. So if you are on the keto diet which you are, if your maintenance calories is 2500 a day and you eat 3000 calories while staying in ketosis then you will gain weight. The reason Keto works for people is because protein is more filling and so when you ingest all those proteins and fats your body cuts you off much sooner and so you are not able to eat as many calories. Also without carbs your body does not store as much water or glycogen in the muscles. However, as soon as you come out of keto you will gain a ton of weight in the first two weeks from water and glycogen storage. As for IF (intermittent fasting) I personally like it because i do not like reheated food and its easier than meal prepping for a whole day. However, its not some magical thing. Most people cannot eat 1600 healthy calories in a short amount of time and get all the vegetables and protein in. So they come in under their caloric goals and lose a ton of weight very quickly. It has nothing to do with if you eat at a certain time your body will do x y z no. Its literally because your caloric deficit is insane. So at the end of the day you do whatever fad diet you want to. It all boils down to calories in vs calories out and people dress it up using words most people do not understand to sound smart and wear white jackets. A ton of those doctors just want people to be in a caloric deficit. So if they will buy into some nonsense about keto or IF to get them there then that is what they will tell them. Study health and fitness for long enough and you will see this.

@B Smoove No pseudo science says other wise. Go to any doctor and when you get down to it the reason they promote those diets is because people tend to eat less on them which leads to a calorie deficit and weight loss. Also its not an age old myth its literally thermodynamics. Maybe you should study that and then come back to me. Lastly, people tend to gain the weight back because they do not know what they are doing and cut way too many calories and starve themselves and then eventually ghrelin beats them to death until they go on an eating binge and stuff their faces with 6000 calories a day gaining all the weight back plus some. If you are losing weight, i do not care what diet you are on, you are in a calorie deficit. If you added 1000 calories to your keto diet you wouldn't continue to lose weight.

Great video Jeremy! To lose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit, so make yourself a diet that will keep you below your maintenance level. If you don't know how to do it, use some online tools like dietarize, dietclick... I would've saved so much time and effort if I had known for this earlier.

Damn that body recomposition made me feel much better! Ive been exercising for the past 2 weeks, but have remained around the same weight. However, my arms, shoulders, stomach and waist are looking much better and toned. I even feel much more comfortable in the jeans i used to wear cause they used to be tight around my waist.

that's 5 days of exercise to burn that extra 150 calories. yeah rather die a fat man than live like a skinny person. my metabolism is so slow at burning calories that even when I went through basic training where they worked us out non stop day and night for 18 weeks and only allowing us to eat fruits and veggies I never lost any weight I had a big belly the whole time. they thought I was sneaking junk food but I wasn't... just can't lose weight and I ate what amounted to maybe 1 apple and 2 bananas for breakfast and a spoon full of carrots and beans for dinner. I was always hungry but never lost a single pound.

if I dont know the nutrition facts of the food im eating, I'll just google it and went for the highest number possible. For example, Chicken Thighs are barely weighs 70g but I count them as 100g anyway. Its not that hard really. I sometimes planned my food ahead on the apps. The journal keeps me on the track.

Luis Garcia no, it won’t. I am not looking to be physically perfect. I just want to love myself just the way I am. Looks fade. Happiness doesn’t. Trust me, I am happy and free. I am also loved. Happily married for 18 years. Not too many hot looking men can say the same thing.I can make everyone around me happy as well. If you knew anything about me, you would know I am not a failure just because I don’t have a 6 pack. I have an amazing life. No struggles or a note pad attached to me checking my weight gain 😂 Everyone is different. If being perfectly healthy and fit is your happiness, go for it. You can’t expect everyone to feel the same way. I like freedom.
