Mission impossible is basically what the Fast and Furious franchise wishes they can be. Mission Impossible is proof that people don’t mind long franchises, as long as the story is good, and the action is not overly obnoxious.

Well, Fast and furious also is a proof that people don’t mind long franchises, even if the action is overly obnoxious. Remember, the 7th movie in Fast franchise (the same number as Dead reckoning) made the most money in the franchise.

@@lordnicenstein5105 Dear God, Tom's fan boys are desperate to protect his aging picket line crossing @$$. The Kenu comment was actually meant as a joke, kind of like Tom Cruises acting over the last few years. Lets face it, when Tom started off acting he was utter trash. He just played the young cocky guy. But he evolved. He turned the vapid persona into something new. He gained acting chops, and gave us masterpeices of cinema and the craft. He evolved past that role, and became a mirad of characters that we loved him for... back when he could act. Its clear those days have passed. Tom's ego has gotten too big. He's wiffed out disaster after disaster when it comes to acting. So rather then take a risk, he's all just stunts and explosions now. Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, and Jack Nicholson embraced their roles and their characters and made masterpeices into their declining years. Tom, is just shilling out junk. He's shooting stunts before their is even a script. He's planning explosions, before they've hired a director. He's doing poromotionals before they even have caste. Tom Cruise is literally everything that is wrong with Hollywood. Ego centeric, vapid, soulless, plotless and flashy. As I said before, Tom Cruise was an incredibly preformer who gave up acting 20 years ago, too bad he didn't stop making movies.

The funny part is is I kind of hated this franchise in the early entries. Mission Impossible 1 thought it was too smart for it's own good and was an incoherent mess of a film. Mission Impossible 2 was the most ridiculous nearly self-parody of a John Woo movie. Things really changed with Mission Impossible 3, I think. That's the real start of the movies as we think of them now.

IMAX was made for Vanessa Kirby close-ups!! ❤😍🙌 This one was a non-stop adrenaline fueling romp from start to finish! Take note 'Fast X', this is how you do an amazing chase sequence through the streets of Rome. The slow buildup towards that one particular set piece was amazing, and when it finally happens, it was absolutely great to be among a crowd that totally went wild! That's exactly the kind of audience participation that scene needed. It's safe to say that Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie have successfully elevated Ethan Hunt to the coolest secret agent out there, and 'Mission: Impossible' into an iconic franchise. ❤🔥🙌

I've seen various interviews with Cruise where he talks about how, early in his career, he always made sure to learn from the legends he was working with, like Paul Newman. Quite a difference from some of the newer actors you see today, who get one role in something big or semi big and then act like they're already at the top of their game and above criticism. (That attitude seems endemic among actors in crappy streaming shows, for some reason, lol).

No flashy dialogs or over the top acting in any way which ultimately gives other actors and there are so many of them and its true and everyone shines in the movie equallyand that's a total win win + The direction of the movie is soo retro! What I love about the MI franchise is that Ethan Hunt's nuts are not cut off to empower the female characters. He's still the same character like how he was in the original first one and is supported by strong female characters who are just as badass as him like Rebecca Ferguson as well as Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff in this new one. It has both strong male and female characters, one gender doesn't look weaker to empower the other. This is exactly how it should be done.

As a whole, I do think I enjoyed Fallout a bit more, especially the story. My biggest issue with this one was also the villain who I just could not understand or connect to at all. It's true that he might be fleshed out in Part 2, but this is still it's own movie and I'm going to judge it as such. Also Fallout had Henry Cavill, which immediately bumps it up a few points. But I did really love the action sequences in this and I was also crushing hard on Grace the whole movie, so still a lot of fun and a great follow-up!

I agree, but I see the challenge they had creating him. SPOILER: He isn't really the villain; he isn't the one making the choices. He is just who was chosen by the entity to do its will. I saw it this morning and I loved it. I loved that the main villain is A.I. which is very relevant on todays world and surprisingly it was very scary. Like I was genuinely afraid of it. There’s a moment when it’s using Benji’s voice to make Ethan run in circles then stops and speaks by itself and taunts Ethan, very cool. I loved that most if not all of the characters weren’t one dimensional and were smart and didn’t act like generic secondary characters. I loved Haley Atwell and Pom Klementieff in this, they both did such an amazing job, although I think Grace was my favourite character in this, still I praise both. The only nitpicks I have is killing of Isla and Pom’s character way too early like I get the emotional impact and threat of this villain but I don’t think they should’ve died, like not to sound morbid here but it would’ve been better if someone like Kittridge was killed off instead. Also there’s a moment before the big jump where Ethan is remembering all the women in his life who he’s in someway failed or endangered and there’s no mention of Lindsey Farris or Julia. Like idk it’s a small thing but continuity is important and it would’ve been more emotional to include them and a way to remember the previous films. Overall this was an amazing set up to what will be a very climatic and phenomenal send off to Ethan Hunt. I give this 8.5/10

MI 7 has serious pacing issues --- the first 30 minutes were tedious and boring. Villain Esai Morales, who is a magnificent actor, doesn't have any memorable lines, which is a shame. The plot had too many threads, similar to a restaurant with 150 items on the menu. The movie would have been MUCH better if an hour was edited out. The Tom Cruise movie "Oblivion" is 100 times better.

I love how Grace portrayed her character and growth and what an amazing mentor and man Ethan is and how much he steps it up to keep his promises. I love how you can feel Ethan’s true disdain and dread of the AI. And he’s constantly wrestling whether he can continue to act in the face of what seems to be inevitability. I posted this somewhere else, but I wanted to post it here: I don't think people realize how much deaging Tom Cruise is getting in these movies. He looks 30 in all of these movies. I've noticed in Fallout and Dead Reckoning that it seems like he's becoming less and less capable of doing action scenes now. Dead Reckoning was very off. I know he was injured on set, but many of the action scenes felt off and at times, they made excuses for Tom not to be in the shot or did it in a way that a stunt double could be used. Like in the Sandstorm scene with Ilsa. He's also sitting down in many of the action scenes now. I thought the Dubai Airport scene was weird, like how they used deepfakes to fool the Feds looking for Tom. Also, the Feds were given an unusually large part in spite of their presence being a detriment to the movie. I don't know if they were doing something like the Witcher, using their characters to take some of the load off the main cast for action scenes. He really needed to hang it up after Fallout.

It kind of feels like there's a bit of a threat level missing. There's no trigger happy madman, the whole world's not at risk of war (yet), and even the stunts and action, while fun, just didn't feel quite as intense as Fallout was. In fact we kind of get a bit comedic with just how long some of these action sequences go for and how one bit cascades to the next and into the next. In some moments it worked, like the car chase, and other parts I'm not sure it was necessarily meant to be funny, like the train. Also I'm really curious just how we're going to stretch out Part Two because everything is seemingly finally in place to achieve the ultimate goal of the mission, but it can't be that simple because there's still a whole movie to go. Still a good movie, but the trend of each Mission: Impossible movie getting better and better (Sans M:I-2) has been broken. Still not bad to have a four long streak of sequels being better than the predecessors though, and it's not much of a slump anyway.
