I was in the Jerma server during this and it was so funny. Someone called the person who bid on it Todd because he looked like the guy from Breaking Bad, and so everyone started calling him Todd. When he said in the server that his name wasn't Todd, everyone was shocked lmao. Even Jerma was calling him Todd. Anyways, I'm glad Todd ended up winning the cards

I remember the panic seeing them close the online bidding early lol😅 Keep in mind that a hybrid (online + in-person) auction is a novel concept and that these issues are going to happen. Because of the delay for online bids, I saw it as a given that the people present at the auction were given the advantage, and I think that’s totally fine. They also made the right call in reaching out to the online bidder, and I’m glad it was resolved amicably.

okay but between everyone rooting for this man (esp after he pulled out his phone and was thinking i felt kind of anxious) and the emotional whiplash of the closed bid, as well as the auction after this where it looked like there were two online winners w the same bid--totally blanking on the item?--i hope off-brand can take away good lessons from this event to account for the lag between irl and online bids! this was a one of kind thing and i'm really glad everyone was such good sports 🙏huge ups to all the production staff for figuring things out so VIP man could get the cards in the end!

It had a nice resolution. The guy who bid 15k (in the audience) Didn't mind if it went to the online bid, being considerate that the live audience had an advantage. Onlne guy decided not to go further and the 15k guy got what he wanted. Just one of the disadvantages bidding has online, its hard to bid 1 second before the gavel hits.

I think because there will always be bit of delay with the stream, they want to close a little early so that the Conner wouldn't close the bidding and then have an bid come in. Obviously, it could result in this situation, but if they did it later, it would likely have resulted in bids after the fact more often. Having the negative outcome affect late bidders is better, because you want to get through items quickly. Having everyone waiting until just before the gavel will slow everything down. But kudos to the bidder, he made for great entertainment with the last second bid.

@drcatspaw they had a crew though, remember when the TV was about to turn off for inactivity? They had 2 ppl ready to deal with even the most minor speedbumps, i imagine they could get someone so integral there. I honestly just don't think the guy closing bids was expecting the offer so he didn't wait for the gavel to try and speed things along on time.

i was looking at the auction website while watching the stream, there were 2 guys trying to outbid the vip, and im pretty sure they were richer than him. What happened is that the staff closed the auction online right before connor hit the hammer a seccond time, thinking nobody would outbid the guy online, and the vip also said he was out. If the staff hadnt closed the auction im pretty sure he wouldve lost, the guy online always outbid the vip almost instantly, so it was a pretty smart move to fake the call of and then outbid at the last moment

Im curious what kind of jobs these guys have. Like this dude seems pretty young, hes only been a fan for a few years, and yet he was ready to dump $15000 for this item. A mininum wage worker in the US would have to work a full year to get that much money.(depending on hours obviously)

Do you mean the ppl that were bidding? Some were creators. But there were 20 open spots for VIPs to be inside the building. Then we had ppl dealing with phone calls too.

The second row on Connor's left appears to be people taking calls from online bidders. I recognize at least 8 creators (not including Connor). I think some of them are "plus ones" for the creator sitting next to them. The rest may be random fans who paid for one of the few seats here.
