As G.W. professor of psychiatry, founding director of the CIA’s Center for the Analysis of Personality and Political Behavior, and noted authority on the psychology of terrorism, Dr. Post skillfully draws on a vast body of research and experience for these profiles of world leaders. From Wilson and MacArthur to Kennedy and Netanyahu, Hussein and Putin, Post illuminates the links between narcissistic personalities and public life. (Cambridge)

What's funny too about MacArthur is that his mother had such a hold on him that he could not let her know he had a Filipina mistress he had gotten into the US and was keeping in DC to continue their clandestine out-of-wedlock relationship that had started back in Manila. He was acting like a scared teenager in that regard, yet he was 57 at the time!

Yes! No narcisim would empty the "leadership" ranks of politics, business, religion, medicine, education, the military etc. Its all based on a flawed major premise...the ego-mind paradigm.

Why is it that this ex-CIA Employee never speak about the abject failure of Psychology and Psychiatry...?? My God, what’s wrong with THEM....? Also, why did Psychologists offer themselves up to ‘The State’, via Volunteering to Torture?

He was chief advisor to the Camp David Peace Accord meetings hosted by President Carter who brought Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat together; this improbable negotiation produced cessation of military hostilities. He went on to warn us of the dangerousness of Donald Trump as president. An inquisitive and deep-reaching mind is good to have in these matters.

All those narcissists mentioned achieved great feats. Maybe most of mass murderers and incorrigible criminals are failed narcissists.

This is very interesting. However, I was expecting the speaker to also give a clinical definition of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and be able to distinguish it from non clinical forms. Giving a bunch of example is engrossing but does little for being able to tell pathological narcissists apart from non-pathological ones.

What I get is that all humans to some degree are problematic. 1. the idea of hierarchy is has a 1:1 correlated with narcissism. 2. When regimes become unjust, which they all eventually do if they are not founded unjustly, and a person fights back, then they themselves become narcissistic. It is a no win predicament concerning the human ego. The only way to avoid it is to become the spiritual essthetic and even that is probably narcissistic.

Dreadful reading . Full of hesitance, wavering, inaudible at times . Had to abandon in the end. Before the end. Please revisit a better recording.
