When I lived in Golden Ms. I only lived a few miles from Treemont Ms where Tammy was from. They made a museum out of the house she grew up in. Now you gotta understand this is in a dry country. So when her and George Jones would come to visit ol' George would spend most of his time drinking with some of the local bootleggers. The stories those guys would tell about George would have you rolling on the floor. God Bless Tammy and George for not only their music but the joy they brought to this world.

I saw her in a biography piece. She talked about being so poor, she would store her dairy products in a cold stream not far from her house. Her baby daughter was just trying to walk. She said she would put a heavy piece of furniture on the corner of her dress to give her time enough to run to the spring to get some food. My folks used to pick cotton. They lived through the dust bowl and the great depression. Folks like Tammy were tough.

Kids don't pick cotten, do chores around the house just to survive or get whippings by their daddies anymore. THAT'S WHY there will never be anymore "stars" like this ever again. That talent is not made in a dressing room, it's made out of a hard life.

@antesosic1600
@antesosic1600 3 ай бұрын
Disciplining your child is child abuse? I mean you gotta remember this was the 50s, lets remember how everyone way back then. Hitting kids was normal and the kids concidered it normal aswell. Look at what she said, it made her apriciate what she has now. Calling everything child abuse wont get you anywhere. She turned out mighty fine. I was hit as a child and i can tell you it makes you be cotious in situations. Especially as a man, you always gotza be cotious arround others regardless of their gender. Most people go thru life consequence free and hitting em as chilldren teaches them taht their actiond have consequences.

What would be so bad being compared to Cher ( even in the '70s)? She's was/is a strong independent woman like Tammy, she also picked up the pieces after a crappy marriage, and did what she had to do to survive and create a life for her and her kids? and has a career that's lasted longer than anyone in this interview?... So, I guess Jerry orTammy wouldn't think it was such a bad thing ( if they were still with us) looking back all these years later?.
