This would rank right up there with some of my favorite real-life bad predictions: "Don't buy Google at its initial public offering." (Washington Post financial columnist Allan Sloan, August 2004) ; "Apple should pull the plug on the iPhone." (Tech columnist John C. Dvorak, March 2007). 🤡

That’s funny, BUT it was ALMOST cancelled after Season 1 because ratings were pretty low. In fact, it came really close to getting the axe. But they decided to give it another chance, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Look up the DVD commentaries on the pilot and the first season. They're freely available on KZfaq. It's hilarious to see everyone's wildly different reactions to the four-episode season order. -Michael Richards thought the executives were probably doing someone a favour. -JLD thought it was unusual but was just glad to have some work. -Jason Alexander thought it was prudent to keep renting his NYC apartment. -LD complained that doing the pilot had been bad enough; how was he going to do four more? -Jerry Seinfeld was absolutely confident that the show would be fine from now on. Also a shoutout to NBC exec Rick Ludwin who took money out of his specials budget to fund the four episodes. He was also the one who championed the show throughout its first three seasons when it was a critical darling but hadn't yet built a massive audience. Without him, there would be no Seinfeld beyond the pilot. RIP, Mr Ludwin.
