The first episode of Seinfeld aired in 1989. Thirty-five years later, the show remains at the apex of American culture. People speak in Seinfeld-isms, they flirt on dating apps over Seinfeld, they rewatch old episodes of Seinfeld when they’re feeling down. And, in the case of the Weiss family, Lou still watches it every night from 11 pm to 12 am on the local Pittsburgh station before he goes to sleep. People around the world even learn English watching Seinfeld!
But now, during a time that is supposed to be the most inclusive, the most sensitive, the most accepting, and the most tolerant time in human history, Jerry Seinfeld is targeted for being a Jew.
You’ve probably heard or seen Jerry somewhere recently-from The New Yorker to GQ to… every podcast in the world. That’s because he has a new movie out called Unfrosted, which you should definitely go watch on Netflix. It’s hilarious, heartwarming, and you will love it.
But today’s conversation with Jerry is unlike the ones you’ve heard. He’s unfiltered. He’s emotional. And he’s speaking his mind.

I ended the episode with tears in my eyes and it was a total surprise. I’m still not sure what it means, but I think it has to do with what Jerry said about comedians seeing through the veneer and how politics is all bullshit. It seems like everything is political these days and by extension, that means everything is bullshit then and it’s so depressing and demoralizing to exist in that.
@DABA2024
@DABA2024 17 күн бұрын
Except he is railing on about wokeness like every other male comedian over 40, while simultaneously creating literally the worst comedy movie of the past 30 years. The guy who is mad that politics is everything these days is going around giving completely unfunny interviews about wokeness and masculinity and other clearly political bullshit, because his comedy isn’t hitting like it did in the 90s. A Pop Tarts movie is like doing a movie about airline peanuts in 2024. Wildly out of touch. This guy brought you to tears? 😂

Having watched this again, I have to say that this is a master class in interviewing by Bari. She's brilliant ---she knows how to use silence, her questions are wonderfully structured, and she knows just when to ask it. I know alot of work went into creating this. Truly magnificent conversation.

Seinfeld is a gem, so is Bari. Millions of Jews were abused, kidnapped, raped, murdered, slaughtered and gassed in WW2. Then on a micro-scale in October, 2023. Never again is not just a slogan. Jerry and Bari know that.

@@dosipov1 That's what most don't get. Jews have been abused over the centuries in ways that most cannot imagine. The October attack was a catastrophic mistake by those who perpetrated it and those who supported it and support it today. They don't get it. Imagine your most loved one was brutally attacked, but survived and then was equally brutally attacked, years later, by the same person. There would be no room for logic or balance. Imagine.

@@SAK1855never again means never again are Jews helpless victims. Don't invade, mass murder and rape which is a declaration of war then not expect war. Israel never starts the wars, so the only recourse warmongers have is to blame Israel for finishing them on top. Stop starting wars then!

This is a brilliant conversation between an absolutely fantastic comedian who understands our society and its challenges better than our leaders and a great journalist who figured out that our society needs more than what our current media culture offers --- honesty, objectivity, and smart analysis as well as human conversations. Someone already said it but these two are national gems. Thank God for them.

This was an excellent interview Bari! Honestly, even though I love Jerry's stand up, I wasn't the biggest fan of the show or how he presented himself in interviews. @@Steve-tk6xv Hey dude, I agree with you. I’m a huge Jerry fan and a huge enemy of the Israeli govt. I’m an anarcho-capitalist so I don’t go with the dummy wokester progressive left, or the dipshit neo-Connery. “Having said that” there are tears to be shed for the victims on both sides. I don’t really care what comedians, celebrities or musicians think about politics or foreign affairs. Deniro is maybe the greatest actor to ever live and yet he holds dogshit opinions. Neil Young made a great record about the Bush Wars but was naively silent during the Obama admin. Then he became a raving covidiot. He’s still a great musician and song-writer. Jerry is one of the funniest humans to walk the planet; He’s wrong on Israel. Go attack somebody who’s truly complicit in the crimes against the Palestinians. I’ll give you a hint - it’s the same people who’ve made trump public enemy #1 since Nov 2016.
