Seinfeld has a few seasons with comedians in cars and he's an master at reading the room. He knows how to get people on the wavelength he wants while making them comfortable. One thing about listening to comics talk is that I'd like to think that if I were in the conversation, they would like me, and find me funny as well. And that is a special thing. (Tina Fey said this about being on Letterman.) Jerry said (many years ago) that one reason he got into doing stand-up was that: "I wanted to be one of 'those guys' over there doing jokes on stage and talking together afterwards." That seems to be a basic element of his success.

Thats likely because Seinfeld respects Spade for being his own comic and not (seeming) to give a shit. That makes Spade worth talking to, which softens the real Jerry Seinfeld.
