@@spenser9908 ok what has jerry done since Seinfeld? Shit. What has larry david done? Another show which ran for 2 decades and is also considered one of the best comedies of all time. What do seinfeld and curb have in common? Larry David as one of its lead writers. You can justify all you want but Jerry is not that funny anymore and dated a fucking high schooler. Fuck him.

Bobcat's comment definitely holds water, and other beverages too, I would think. One only need watch an episode of CURB and the cat is out of the proverbial bag; SEINFELD was Larry's Voice LOUD and CLEAR. I've always been a Jerry Seinfeld fan, but I have been cringing over his attitude that says, "I am Comedy's Elder Statesman now." This is a sure recipe for the Guillotine of his legacy. Just tell your well crafted and very funny observations, Jerry--- we'll go along. Don't get all George Carlin-ey on us!!

Adding a little context for that bizarro Michael Richards Letterman appearance. As an oldie who witnessed the whole weird episode in real time, i seem to recall that was also the same time that all the Seinfeld DVD's were being released or had imminent release dates, and it was expected to be BIG money maker. So the whole Letterman thing appeared in our household as nothing more than Jerry trying to save his cash cow. Nothing more.

I remember watching that set when it dropped. The whole thing was just so goddang transparent. It was even crazier to see Seinfeld telling Letterman's audience to "Stop laughing, it's not funny" was priceless. That single statement, uttered in a deathly serious tone, was about as big an exercise in contrasts as I can imagine. What I heard was, "Stop laughing, my cash-cow is bleeding out and you're making it worse."

Mark Normand talks about Jerry on his podcast, you wouldn’t know Jerry even likes him from the stories. He’s constantly vetting ideas on how to text him to both not anger him and to get an actual response. It sounds like he gets left on read often with Jerry calling the shots on communication. He sounds like he has control issues and a god complex, they talk with such reverence about the man and he uses that to fuel his ego by acting like he doesn’t need them, he has bigger friends and is busy making films about pastry treats and specials that A.I. could write better. If he didn’t have Seinfeld to sell the streaming rights and get $200 million every other year I don’t think he would be relevant at this point. Larry David made him.

Which is not a big deal (for him at least) but it is fucking ridiculous that a man who once needed 10 HD TIVOs is now complaining about people “being on their screens too much” 😂😂

I hope very mistake you’ve ever made, and every little secret you are terrified the world might find out gets exposed and you are judged by your mistakes and your worst moments. Not everyone is as evil as you need them to be for your own gratification. Context matters. Time and place and energy and environment matter…Michael Richards was wrong. What he said was wrong. But by all accounts this is not a not a hateful or racist man. It was a man who lost work, lost his fiance, and was trying to learn stand up, which was not his area of expertise. He a theatre actor. In theatre it is considered low brow and not acceptable to speak or heckle. The gentleman heckled and said some ignorant shit his entire set. Richards thought he was being edgy and hip and lost his cool, and it sounded insane. He spent the rest of his life ashamed and essentially in hiding. For one mistake. And you think that’s deserved? And also should a lifelong friend abandon you in your worst moment? It’s admirable Seinfeld stuck by his friend and helped him, while not at condoning what he said. You must be a fantastic friend to have…I hate the political sphere in the United States because of the extreme views and disconnect from getting anything accomplished. And as a lifelong Democrat, if I were pushed to side one way or the other, I am ashamed of you so called liberals have turned into the group that cancels and shuns in the country that is supposed to be free. Inclusivity? Only when you are perfect and feel all of the same ways that we do…Don’t screw up. Otherwise we will all abandon you and try to get you fired and have your income taken away so your family suffers…Wtff?! Shameful…

I see a lot of similarities here between Jerry and Howard Stern. Howard went to therapy for, I think, narcissism, and he talked on his show all the time about how in the past before he went to therapy, how it would piss him off so much when people would attack him and how he would go off the deep end if his show wasn't number one all the time. He couldn't handle it if he wasn't always perfect and loved by everyone all the time. I think Jerry has the same thing that Stern had.

I appreciate Jerry Seinfeld's take on life in his interviews more than his actual comedy. He has an IQ of 170 and is a master analogist. I've been collecting his metaphors for years for their perfection. He is a brilliant writer. 'Talent is a horse you have to know how to ride'. 'Marriage is like a game of chess except the board is flowing water and the pieces are made of smoke.' 'A bat is a hamster who got an idea.' And his beautiful tribute to George Carlin's genius: 'He worked over an idea like a diamond cutter with facets and angles and refractions of light. He made you sorry you ever wanted to be a comedian. He was like a hobo with a chicken bone - when he was done there was nothing left for anybody.' I could go on and on with the quotes. Whatever people think about him he was never, as some are saying in these comments, a hack. I wish people these days would try and aim for the truth of a situation rather than just cherry picking, or misinterpreting, to fit their own particular narrative. My other comment was removed, I hope this one isn't because the comments saying he was untalented are just not true.

The 2 biggest reasons for the shift for those oh so edgy comedies is 1) oversaturation of every movie studio trying to replicate Super Bad, and just about every Apatow movie. 2) your comedy boys are now doing dramas. Carell, Carey, Sandler etc have moved on to different material, 3) comedy writing is spending more time trying to offend than actually being funny. How many Trans centered Netflix specials is Chapelle going to make? He's at 3 at this point. Complain about being canceled so you can make an entire special about it? Cmon. Grow up and be funny. They are not Carlin or Bruce.

The fact that people are upset about what Jerry Seinfeld said is ridiculous. I don’t completely agree with what he said, but he’s not completely wrong. I think he was probably talking more about the fact that the PC police and social Justice warriors have insured the virtually every TV show has to have gay characters and someone from every minority. if Seinfeld were made today either one of the four primary characters would have to be gay, or they would have to add a fifth character. Did not assault or harass any women or minorities. He just doesn’t have a high opinion of today’s comedies. I think he forgot about curb your enthusiasm. and he’s probably never watched Abbott Elementary. But this cancel culture reaction? Ridiculous. I think it’s 99% jealousy because Jerry‘s been to the top of the mountain, and a lot of other people in show business, including some other comics who don’t have Jerry’s work ethic, or extremely jealous and resentful of his success. Both critically and financially. Unfrosted was very funny. Anyone who didn’t think so was just hating. And I’m sure Jerry will bounce back even if some pinheads canceled some of his recent projects. Morons.
