He was one of nicest guys you would meet . we got used to seeing him around Conyngham especially on Sundays during the flea market at the bowling alley . Met the man once out of the blue at a restaurant I was managing. He was travelling for Kansas City to St. Louis and stopped with his manager for dinner. He was very gracious and met all of his fans and gave autographs to all that wanted them. When he paid for his dinner I apologized for the customers and employees bothering him. He told me "Son I never turn away a fan, they are the reason I have gotten to where I am today." he was most cordial and gracious in his attitude and in his demeanour. RIP Mr. Palance you will always be remembered.

Holly Palance was two years behind me at Beverly Hills High and in my best friend's class. Jack would always come to school events and was the nicest, most gentle man and very loving father. I have nothing but admiration for him on all counts.

That's cool. Did his daughter Brook go there too? Brook is the one married to Michael Wilding, Liz Taylor's son. THEIR son Tarquin looks like a mix of JP & ET. He's very handsome.
@WildWestGal Жыл бұрын
@@trawlins396 Yes, she did. But, I graduated two years before Holly and before Brooke and Cody even went there. Jack bought another house in BH after he and the family returned from Switzerland. You had to live in BH in order to attend the schools, and their school system was one of the best in the country, at least at that time. And, yes, Tarquin is a handsome lad. 🙂

@WildWestGal Жыл бұрын
@@trawlins396 Well, as I said, I didn't know all his kids and didn't "hang out" with Holly either. She was a nice girl, as were most all of them, and none of the "movie kids" were stuck up, believe it or not (although there were a number of kids from really rich BH families that were). So, other than the occasional jerk and a few "cliques," which you find in any school and any location, everyone was very nice. Of course, this was a different era. We had a dress code and were raised with a code of "mind your manners" that went along with it. That was the society we were in then. If you acted like an ass in public, it didn't go well for you... unlike today where the bigger the ass you make of yourself the higher your social media subscriber numbers raise. (sigh)

I greatly admired Jack Palance as an actor and a real-life human being. Several people have mentioned his film called "Attack." This war movie about a small infantry unit during WWII's Battle of the Bulge is one of my favorite films. I've always marveled at the roles played by both Jack Palance and Eddie Albert. They were superb, playing characters totally the opposite of the roles and characters they generally played during their long careers. For once, Palance was the hero/protagonist, tough and gritty, but really a truly principled and honest man, committed to welfare of his fellow soldiers, and to the ideals that he needs to honor as an American, fighting against the Nazi bad guys. Albert also played the reverse of his usual "good guy" persona; you know, the Green Acres "swell feller" that was predictably the type-cast character role he always seemed to get. Instead, Albert excelled in his portrayal of a cowardly, untrustworthy, disloyal, slimy, evil opportunist, mainly out to make sure of his own survival, committed only to keeping himself safe while betraying any and all of the members of the unit. Both men did a superb job of bringing their characters to life. Without spoiling the story, the ending grinds to the inevitable crisis and climax. At the end, you are totally blown away by the results these two characters bring about, in stark contrast to their usual roles. It's a gripping war story, so if you get a chance to see Attack, be sure to do so. Both actors are superb, and it's a fine film.

I really enjoyed that, Jerry. A beautiful and informative tribute to a great and enduring film icon. I can remember watching Jack in Westerns when I was a boy. He had great presence and wonderful timing. He may have played a lot of villains in his great career, but that smile of his could really light up the screen. He'll never be forgotten.

Jack was easily the most convincing and scariest vampire ever. His rendition of Dracula is the best!

Scott Burns I agree. I was around 11 or 12 when his version came out. I was scared out of my wits

+Shine light michele We're of similar age then. I recall being so scared, yet riveted to the screen at the same time. Lol...I couldn't help but have to pee at each commercial break. The original War of the Worlds garnered the same reaction from me.

Scott Burns he probably could have played the actual Prince Vlad whom the Dracula character is based on

I haven't seen it yet, but I am now. Lol of course he's no Edward Cullen. But then again, Edward Cullen can't ever be Jack palance either

I always enjoy your KZfaq videos, Mr. Skinner. Many thanks. This is one of my all time favorite actors. My mother actually met the man back in 1989 at DFW airport. She told him how much she enjoyed his acting and he actually dropped down right there in front of her and did ten push ups.

@JerrySkinner: I really enjoyed your video on Jack Palance & his life. I am a long time fan since a child watching his westerns & beyond. I always loved his low key snide remarks that made others shake in their boots in the flicks. Even in "City Slickers." Haha! Thank you for sharing.
