Despite the gravity of the atrocities committed by Hamas, global feminist and human rights NGOs have maintained silence on the critical issue of sexual violence during the October 7th attack.
This session, a collaboration between The Jerusalem Press Club and Media Central, that explores the topic from various perspectives, including international law, victimology, and pathology. We also present the testimony of a female survivor from the Nova festival.

Both of my parents and grandparents were kept in concentration camps. My father told horrible stories that would make me cry! Never again I would think. And, here we are! At the age of 72 I have suffered very badly for more than 30 years wIth CPTSD. Finally with a lot of therapy the nightmares have gone and I no longer have panic attacks. MY HEART GOES OUT TO VICTIMS, FAMILIES AND ALL RESPONDERS. THIS WILL BE A LONG JOURNEY AND BEING HEARD AND BELIEVED IS OF ABSOLUTE IMPORTANCE TO HEAL. Israel and all its people remain in my prayers. I do not stand with Israel on Principle of Netanyahu being in office for 20 years, I DO HOWEVER strongly empathize with the women victimized by Hamas and were destroyed Inside and out. I condemn hamas and condemn Netanyahu. "Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” he told a meeting of his Likud party’s Knesset members in March 2019. “This is part of our strategy - to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank" Bibi had a hand in traumatizing these women for life.

I am a catholic who was formerly married to a muslim from the former soviet union. I had to run with My daughter to a homeless shelter due to the sex abuse. Over time i had learned that it was endemic to his entire city of Samarkand. Even his mother encouraged explicit sex abuse. It seemed to me to be a part of his Islamic customs sad to say. Many liberals that I know shrug this off and believe it's just a part of war for women to experience sex abuse. How cynical! Our american civil war battles resulted in minimal injuries to women and children, at least on the battlefield- over 100 years ago. This is NOT normal for even a provoked war. People need to wake up and realize that even in "peaceful" muslim countries there is a great deal of sex abuse going on, and that makes the men very callous and dangerous in general.

I’m in Canada and we are oblivious to this information. Some posters showing who was kidnapped was put recently but I think it was done by the Jewish community. Attempts were made in Montréal but the mayor ordered the removal of these posters and a fight broke out in Concordia university because some of the pro Palestinian protesters attacked Jewish students who were trying to raise awareness on all those who had been kidnapped by the Hamas.

I’m a Jewish woman, first generation American, with parents who were holocaust survivors. With the exception of my mother… everyone in her family who survived the holocaust went to Israel… so I have an extremely large family there. My husband is a dual citizen and fought in the 73 war in Israel. My son-in law is Israeli, as are my two grandchildren. I never thought I would say I’m ashamed to be an American but I am. Living in the midst of the me too movement in the US, where woman are being defended at the slightest impropriety by a man….there is nothing but silence by the majority after the horrific sexual violence, and in some cases murder committed by the Hamas terrorist. If what happened on 10/7/23 doesn’t illicit a resounding response of support….I no longer belong anywhere other than Israel. In addition to my devastation over the massacre, and rape of innocents, I have never felt such anger in my life at the apathy the “civilized” world is displaying. 💔💔💔🥲🥲🥲

Julie-I am a Christ Follower and I too feel such anger and sadness and disappointment at how this is being treated by the media in our country and how it’s not being given the attention it should be even in many of the churches. I was taught from a child to Love Israel and the Jewish people. I do pray that these horrible crimes will be treated as they should be and those who did them will be prosecuted. Where is the outcry from all the women’s movements-their silence is deafening. They really aren’t any words that can adequately describe the brutality.

Yes, this should convince people to STOP trusting the mainstream news and their narrative. Everytime islamists rape and murder the west liberal media downplays it. I haven't heard the stories yet. And I do hear people sometimes say they would rather die than be raped again. I am maybe the only one who will say, I do not want to die, to me death IS actually worse than rape. Of course ideally I choose neither. I'm sorry but to me dying is the worst, I have never understood this claim. There can be life and joy even after trauma.

I am horrified by the worlds response to what has happened to Israel. First of all those monsters film themselves, so proud of what they have done and then they deny it? Everything I have heard is so horrific and my prayers and thoughts are with you all constantly. I am brokenhearted about what these women and children had to go though and maybe even are still enduring as hostages. I stand with Israel from South Africa.

I doubt they beat themselves or each other up. 6 Palestinians have died in israeli jails since October 7th. 4 of them were detained AFTER October 7th. so why did they just suddenly die? other Palestinians being held said their deaths were from being brutally beaten and tortured. not even weeks in israeli hands and already dead! where is the world to speak up for these dead Palestinians who can't speak up for themselves!

I would like to thank all of you for the excellent and extremely difficult roles you have been handed in these horrific war crimes. So many times when I share/comment on social media, I am met with denial that any of this even happened. Friends of mine in Be’eri were all murdered. The 12 year old girl was only recently identified as the assault was so terrible as there was almost nothing left of her. I truly appreciate all the testimonies you are giving as witnesses. And let’s pretend Palestinians have always had a just cause. When people suggest, as one person did in an earlier comment, that the constant trauma by Israel forced them into this inhumanity, they show empathy for trauma felt by Palestinians but never do they show empathy for the trauma felt by Jews who saw almost half their global population of millions cut in half and so desperately wanted a place to govern themselves. Why is it that some of these commenters can excuse the behaviour of Hamas and not of the things they say Israel has done?

This is all incredibly powerful testimony. Most criminal trial rely on witness testimony alone - and I would guarantee, the video and photographic evidence exists, and would be used in a court. I know you probably want to watch video of rape and torture, but thankfully that is never going to happen.

I would like to say that the second lady ( i haven't listened to the rest yet. Have to listen in bits) is an absolute hero, as are the people who work on her team. It is heartening to know that the last experience of the bodies of these poor suffering girls and women was one of utmost love and respect. That is so beautiful and some small solace in the graphic descriptions here. One side shows unbelievable brutality and evil the other side shows the best and most uplifting examples of human kindness and compassion. Thankyou to all these people for the good you do.

The Jewish woman barrister thought it was very funny I did not get compensation- my injuries include permanent spinal cord nerve damage and compressed coccyx.
