If I remember correctly, in the book he’s going over to her house to talk to her when he sees her leaving and taking a rented carriage up the street where no one from her house can see her. He thinks it’s suspicious so he follows her in his own carriage to a church on a very bad side of London far from Mayfair. Inside the church he sees Penelope hide a paper behind a pew, it was her latest issue to be printed. Once he reads the paper he realizes she’s Lady Whistledown, he’s pissed because of all the danger she has been putting herself in and she’s obvs freaking out. He ends up giving her a ride back to Mayfair in his carriage because hers kinda abandoned her, they fight a bit then the whole carriage scene happens but more graphic, then they arrive at her house and he proposes.

@@lailawilliams3007 I prefer the show version, because in the book he’s trying to talk to Portia and she keeps trying to kick Penelope out because she thinks Colin wants to propose to Pen’s younger sister Felicity. Colin is completely disgusted because he’s 33 and I think Felicity is 20-21. Pen is 28 so very much a spinster, and it never crossed through Portia’s mind that Colin could be interested in Pen, even though he made it obvious that he wanted her in the room when he requested to speak with Portia in private. That’s also when Colin tells her off and advises her to start treating Pen better. At least in the show Portia is upset because she doesn’t know it’s a secure offer and thinks Penelope threw Lord Debling away and found herself in the same position as Marina and that engagement fell through. Still messed up that she has no hope in Pen catching Colin, but not as much as the book.

No she does not. Whenever she’s with Penelope or Cressida, she mostly talks about her problems and neglects their own. And when they do try and tell her their problems, she’s not even there to help them.

Benedict went to the “party” at that artist’s home in season 1 where there was basically an orgy going on but he was with women. He had walked in on the artist (who was married) with his male lover. I think that’s what you are thinking of. I do believe he is Bi though.

34:42 I thought the same thing in S1. Benedict gave major bi vibes in the first season. He seemed to be flirting with men and women at the artist’s house. The writers pulled away from that in S2. But now then seem to be back to that.

The wedding will be extremely beautiful, with Colin and Penelope brimming with love for each other, and yeah SOOOOO DRAMATIC. Anthony jumps the gun. I think his reaction to the news was to assume Colin slept with Penelope in an act of youthful recklessness and now MUST marry her. Sad to say, while his family loves Colin they generally don't respect him very much. One of the reasons he loves Pen is that she has always respected him, always supported him, never mocked him. And Eloise...my god she is so myopic. Love her, but...she really needs some self-awareness. I truly believe Colin has been dreaming of being a husband with as much intensity as many women dream of being a bride. Right now all his deepest fantasies are coming true.
