The true story of this video is that Kamikoto reached out to me at about the same time as Tim Greenwood (Turgworks) released his scrapwood buildoff, so I just put 2 and 2 together and made a scrap wood project that also would fit a video with the awesome knives. The competition is still open to anyone in the world, so go build something and publish it on KZfaq or Instagram with the hashtag #scrapwoodbuildoff. And no, the prizes only go to residents in the U.K. but you can participate and have fun and build your woodworking network from anywhere.
This competition got me started making the pallet blocks coffee table, and man, if I didn’t make that, I would not have been where I am today. Which is a beginner woodworker making questionable projects. Thank you all for your support.
I have been able to get a good amount of tools in my shop over the last year. I’m not a full time woodworker, and because I also have another job that supports my cost of living, I’m able to put everything I make from the woodworking back as investments in tools in my shop. It has been all hard work, but you’re welcome to make a comment about how fortunate I am to have a shop full of woodworking tools that magically have appeared overnight. But just know that I take care of a dayjob, work in the workshop in the evenings and edit videos for KZfaq many nights.

Just found your channel. I'm always amazed by the difference between workshops around the world. On all the American channels you see workshops with 10,000s dollars' worth of equipment, whereas elsewhere, they're more like sheds with non-premium tools and hacks. Love the surfacing jig you created and shamelessly will steal that idea. I look forward to watching more of your videos. @JesperMakes Thanks for your reply. That fellow created many custom tables for commercial use and other wall art that was amazing. I hit a jackpot, for sure! I bought a couple of old metal advertising signs from him that will go nice in a rustic wooden frame. I bought other tools and clamps as well. Can't have too many clamps!!

I know the pain with the router. Mine slipped, and dug into a piece I was using as a lid for outdoor furniture/storage combined. Internally cried. Flipped the lid over, turned the dig-out into a spot for the hinge, can't see it, no worries. Sweet build mate. New Sub.

Some people face life with strict goals and harsh objectives and overwhelming ambition for greatness. Perhaps this board is a metaphor for a different approach. Choosing a path were the trust lies entirely in finding the way as you go . A journey where there are slips from the track and other disasters, where there is always room for a few extra pieces to be shoved in the gaps. A life where things are held down with whatever is found in this moment now. Where surprises and failures are met with equal delight. A rich existence constructed from whatever could be found. In this life there is no competition because every day has already been won and the results are an honest testament to the traveller, which is not perfection but true satisfaction.
