**POSTPARTUM BELLY BAND: amzn.to/2MOH0XI
Jenny shares her experience with her first emergency C section and then pro tips based on the 5 consecutive planned C sections that followed her first. Consider this "C section 101". This video is part 1 of a 2 part conversation we had. This video is all about the preparation and process of the C section. She covers everything imaginable from whether or not to eat before it, allergies to latex, pain meds, how you might be feeling, nausea, whether or not to shave your vagina, scarring, and a lot lot more. In part 2 Jenny talks about the hospital stay, NICU, pooping, belly bands, whether or not to be active, going home, infection, having people help you, sex after birth and more. If there is anything we missed leave it in the comments below!

I’ve had two c sections (both of my kids), one was an emergency and one was not. I love hearing her perspective, but I also want to put out there that getting a C-section doesn’t have to always be a scary thing! I promise! Lol. With both my C-sections, despite having surgery and it being kinda crazy, they were wonderful! Just like in natural child birth, there are discomforts and things you have to go through, but please for those of you watching this and maybe feeling like it’s a terrible thing, I promise you it’s not as long as you and baby are healthy and come out healthy. I did a video on this topic this year & I really appreciate Jess for talking about c-sections, because I feel like it’s looked at as such a horrible scary thing, that we are kind of robbed of feeling like our experience is just as special as the experiences of those that have a vaginal birth. Our birth stories (I almost wrote broth stories 😆) are just as special and worth talking about!☺️

My births have all been so special in their own ways. Even with all of them being c-sections. I do get jittery every time, but it’s special. One thing I wrestled through was feeling like I hadn’t actually “given birth”, but c-sections can still be so beautiful and special. There’s nothing about them that diminishes the fact that we birth our babes!

Thank God for this video. I had my first child 2 years ago and I was only 19 and very naive. I remember telling my OB that there was no way I was having a C-section. She kept telling me she was a little worried due to my small frame. When the time came and I was in labour pushing for hours my doctor realized she was right and the baby’s shoulder was stuck. My birth canal just wasn’t big enough for the baby to fit through so all of the nurses got on my bed and pushed on my belly until the baby popped out. I hemorrhaged and lost almost 3 liters of blood. The baby was fine by some miracle, my doctor told me usually their collar bones break in the process😓 it was very traumatic and has scared me from ever having another child. My doctor said I will never have another vaginal birth and I should have only C Sections from now on. So I’ve been thinking about having another baby but terrified about what the new experience will be and what if so much goes wrong this time? This video helped a lot!

This is exactly my story! My first was removed via a necessary cesarean due to baby being in distress and lack of progress at 6cm. I attempted a VBAC in November of 2020, laboured for 25 hours and couldn't progress past 6cm again and so was taken in for another cesarean. Still healing emotionally from it all but thankful for healthy babies and safe deliveries. Thank you for sharing. I truly feel not so alone in my experience after watching this and have hope that I can have more children via c-section. xoxo

Girl!! This was me too. I stopped dilating at a 6cm with both my first and second babies. With my first I was induced for preeclampsia and my second for gestational diabetes and low fluid. Both of them were stuck posterior. I ended up hemorrhaging during both the surgeries too after being in labor for so long! I scheduled my 3rd baby’s C-section and it was a beautiful experience. It hurts less and less emotionally as time goes on. I used to cry every day. Now I rarely cry about only having C-sections. I really want a couple more babies. Thank you for sharing. I feel less alone too!

I found the spinal the most painful part, because you're cold and nervous and it's your spine they are tampering with. I didn't get to have my baby on my chest in theatre because I felt so nauseas. They also put the catheter in once I was numb because I have a sensitive bladder. My section was a result of being 40.5 weeks with gestational diabetes and didn't dilate despite two attempts at induction so was urgent rather than emergency. So if its looking likely you need one, don't wait until it becomes an emergency, as there were three that had to be done in front of me so they didn't risk me going to emergency as my baby was starting to get tired from all the induction meds and labour. Overall this meant it was a fairly calm and controlled process and decision. What I didn't realise is because there is no squeezing from vaginally delivering, the baby can have a lot of mucous so may snuffle and cough after birth.

This is so helpful!! Thank you! ♥️ We will be having our first baby in July and I just want to know about C Sections too, even though I‘m planning a natural home labour. To me the worst part is right now, that in Germany you‘re currently alone when a C Section is being done. No one is allowed to come with you in surgery, I think that‘s just not ok, because you need that support of someone being there for you. ☹️

@@romulusthemainecoon3047 it actually depends on the hospital. 😔 I have 2 hospitals close, one allows to have your partner with you during a C section, the other hospital does not allow it sadly. 😔😔😔 Hope until July things change for the better but I would always keep on checking for updates with your chosen hospital. ♥️

I have PTSD from a surgery where one type of medicin was wrongly administered (the one that made me not feel anything and be asleep), but the one, which made me paralysed, did work, hence I wasn’t able to communicate. It was extremely traumatic and everything about hospitals is still a huge trigger for me, however I would love to hear Jenny share her story (if she doesn’t mind) I feel like it, even though not exactly the same, would make me, and probably others, feel less alone. Thank you for the amazing videos

When I had my C-section, it was after "failed" vaginal labor, so I had an epidural and they were giving the medicine through the epidural. But I had been feeling contractions all day, and then I wasn't going completely numb, so they put me under general anesthesia. My husband wasn't allowed to be in the room because general anesthesia means intubation as well, which is an aerosolizing procedure (covid) and can be traumatic for loved ones. It wasn't a fun time. Eta: my baby girl was born the same day as jules 💓

This is basically identical to my birth story. During COVID, the epidural wasn’t working properly so I had to go totally under, without my partner in the room. So so scary and so weird going to sleep pregnant and waking up not! My baby was also born early so I didn’t get to see her until that night. It’s comforting to hear others stories like yours that are very similar. ❤️ Moms are super beings

@@sophiawisneski3720 I'm sorry you had to go through this, too, but glad you and your baby made it through as well. One of the hardest parts was having people tell me that our collective health was the most important thing, while I was crying in the shower over bruises left by the IV for my "failed" delivery. It caused me a lot of sadness and anxiety. I hope you're doing well now, dealing with the reality of your birth experience and getting help if you need it.

I’m not sure if you’ve had your baby yet. I’m a VBAC mom, and I if it’s something that you are considering doing, I highly suggest choosing a provider with VBAC experience and that will take the proper steps to ensure that you feel as comfortable as you can with the process. Ultimately, you want to go in to your birth experience feeling confident about your decision and if that is having another c section, go that route. Whatever is best for you and your family🤎

I had my daughter by emergency c section and I’m glad I knew nothing before. I think I faced it a lot more practically and calmly when I didn’t know anything about c sections. I just did what they told me and knew I just had to get it done. Cuz I’m like CRINGING watching this. Lol. They moved my organs over? Omg. I’m afraid to watch c section videos. And the pressure of them cutting and pulling and pushing was WEIRD. It was weird. No pain but I could feel everything they were doing. And my baby did not want to come out. The surgeon was pulling for 30 minutes and finally cut me more in order to get my baby out. She went right to the incubator because they had to pump her lungs because she was not crying or breathing. She’s super healthy and good though

Also sections in the UK are different to the US.. I went in for 5am no food from 12pm had a tablet that helps neutralise your stomach acid, got given a gown as did my partner when we arrived.. Filled some last minute forms had one last ultra sound to ensure baby was still stuck ect. Then waiting.. Waiting... And then you get wheeled down.. One last check over before going in make sure you've not got any jewellery ect on.. Then I went in as my partner waited outside and then they done my spinal and added the drips and the process began.. They spray your legs with this cold spray to ensure you can't feel anything.. Then you're numb. They walk you through everything and boom baby is out.i got a cuddle so did my partner took photos.. Then my son went with my partner while they finished off my procedure and I went to the recovery room and that was that!
