We learn a lesson about valuing our own life experience from the time Jess' husband fell asleep in an important meeting and how to reframe the stories we are telling ourselves.

This was my first listen to the podcast and loved it! I have been following you for quite a few years now Jessica, and I’m so excited for this duo with Laney. I am also a deconstructed christian, so it was refreshing to hear that Laney is no longer christian and also refreshing to hear Jessica recommend a book by Martha Beck as I think she’s great as well! I don’t know how much this fits with your audience, but I’d love an episode on how to talk to your kids about faith after deconstruction. Easter this past weekend felt very awkward 🫤 We stopped going to church about 4 years ago and have a 3 year old. Thanks so much!

Hi Hana! This is not the first request we've gotten for a discussion on changing faith and how to bring your child along that journey. I'll confess I find it a little daunting because it's something I'm still trying to guide myself though as an adult (Easter felt awkward for me, too) 🤣. For now, just know that it's always ok to tell you children that you don't know, that you are making a change and doing your best learn about life. You can tell them that you've never been a person before and are still figuring it out - and that's good. They can be invited into the mystery. They are going to have to grapple with the same ineffable questions in their lives so hearing you say, "I'm not sure about that right now but I'm learning and I'll let you know when I know more," is very powerful. I'm so happy you are here - let's stay in conversation about this! -Layne

Love these takes! I'm halfway through and I'm so happy with getting to sit through this conversation.... My whole life has felt like this task of puzzle piecing everybody else and their stories and lived experiences, But these conversations give me an opportunity to do it for myself❤🎉

Hey hey! Love listening to the podcast. I’ve got a topic I’d love to hear you two discuss. Seems odd, but parental nakedness. Everyone has different feeling on what is okay and what is not as far as changing in front of or in eyesight of your own children. There is many things that fall into this topic and would love to pick your brain on it.
