We travelled to Xi'an, China for the Lunar New Year and spring festival.
Xi'An is the oldest city in China with history dated thousand of years ago.
Hence many tourists and visitors dressed in Chinese traditional dresses called Hanfu.
We decided we would also join the fun, especially since it was Chinese New Year's eve.
Xi'An comes alive at night, especially with all the lights and lanterns.

To answer Ivana‘s question：YES! those kinds of hairstyle and jewelry were mainly for the upper class in the past.ordinary people could only be dressed-up like this once or twice for big ceremony or something. And the hairpins were called 步摇 in chinese，which is literally translated as “walk shake”，They were supposed to limit the movements of the ladies and princesses who were meant to be quite and elegant.

The local government wanted to boost the tourism and initiated a lot of free training course for this specific style of ancient make up and hair . (By the way there is a small town specialize in making hair piece) That helped with the increasing number of shops like this. There are even larger ones out there.

bro i really appreciate how well you took random people taking pictures of you on the street. once i watched a vlogger who takes his camera doing what you are doing exactly in china but took it very badly when random people trying to take pictures of him. i mean come on you are walking around with a go pro and recording everyday people minding their own business, why cant they take pictures of you back? Not a lot of chinese people could see a foreigner all dressed up and its pretty natural that they wanted to record this moment of their life, just like you want to record them. So i really appreciate you and Ivana being really chill about this.

史帅and肯高飞 Can you recognize your Chinese name?帅means GENERAL as a noun and HANDSOME as an adj., he explained it very clearly. 肯,which is Ken's first name, means willing to/love to as an adv.， so 肯高飞 means the man is willing to or loves to fly high in the sky, the extended meaning is to chase his dreams. Your Chinese names are pretty good in fact lol

The best I can think of is: You are a diplomatic military official or a prince from northern grass land, Ivana is a royal princess who just married to you and will be leaving homeland with you to new home. Thanks for this donation! We were glad to give out some ang pow during CNY. Although, we think we might have made a small mistake: The bank notes in the envelopes were not fresh and crisp right from the bank. Is that considered rude? We realized afterwards that ever ang pow we've received always had fresh bills. Hopefully people understand our honest mistake

When Ivana wear this traditional Chinese costume and make up, I really see a beautiful Chinese ancient princess,she looks amazing!!! (btw this traditional Chinese costume generally calls HanFu 汉服) also Steve looks great in HanFu!!! Because for the pollution problem, a lot of cities in China, they won’t play the fireworks officially, but citizens are not banned for this.
