Thanks for checking out my bench pin build video! I feel like I’ve been ‘making due’ with my setup for a long time. I’ve been dreaming about upgrading my “V” board and it’s about time I get to it. This rigid bench pin addition to my jewellery bench is going to make sawing way easier, especially for my preferred material of choice, stainless steel. Enjoy this welded build process, cheers!
A jewelry bench is an ergonomic workbench for jewelers, but they aren’t restricted to jewelers alone. This workbench format is also used by metalsmiths, watch makers, gem setters, engravers and can even be found in the dental industry. It’s an extremely efficient and optimized setup for delicate and precise craftsmanship. I strongly believe that they would be an asset to the entire maker community. Although their exact format really comes down to personal preference, it doesn’t take much for them to become the ultimate work station. They can be extremely compact and perfect for a small apartment. With some customization, they would the perfect place for detailing EVA foam, cosplay armor, leather work, clay sculpting and even painting! Though they can be extremely fancy and expensive, they really don’t have to be! They can be made by customizing a regular office desk or blasted out of 2x4’s and plywood. If you’re a maker, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have a jewellery bench!
All 3D modeling and animation is done in Rhino 3D, version 7.

I'm really into woodworking and metal fab so I haven't really looked at jewelers setups yet, but damn this looks like it would be so handy to add to the workbench. Great video 👍maybe a new rabbit hole for me to go down

I really like this. I've been toying with the idea of adding those trailer hitch style workbench accessory mounts but they are just to big for my small shop. This gives me some additional ideas. Thanks!

New to your channel site. I was drawn here by chance. I saw a brief vid clip and decided I was interested. Interesting concepts you have. Long time hobbyist. I do watch repair and jewelry. I made my own desk. It's not traditional, but it works for me until it don't. My desk is a bit bigger than most. Longer and wider. I still used the arch to get closer to my work. I got second hand chest of draws and cut them down, like in half and used L brackets to join them to the top of my desk. I made a bracket for my bench pin and o drilled hole for a mandrel. I'm always looking for new inspirations. Thank you for your inspirations and for makes you video. Keep making it work.

Very nicely made. Did you consider making a quick change system with dovetails like the GRS one? Your bench looks great too. I agree they are a very useful workbench for any maker, not just jewellers. I am not a jeweller, but made one for my workshop and it gets used as much as my carpenters workbench (maybe more).

Hey, thanks for watching! Good to hear from another jewellery bench enthusiast! I really did want to make the quick change cleats. Since It's made by hand and any other attachments would need to match, I figured it would be easier to just... bolt them on lol. Replicating those compound mitres was just going to be a bit more tedious than drilling two holes so I took the easy route. I'm definitely happy with how solid it turned out. Just another reason why I'd love a milling machine some day!

Thanks. I know what you mean. I currently add a tenon to any add ons and they are held into a mortice which has a metal insert , set into the workbench, and two set screws. I was looking for ideas, which is how I found your video. Yeah it did occur to me that it might be a pain making dovetails for each accessory, but I'm leaning in that direction (maybe using metal on the workbench and using 9 degree dovetails which could be routed into wooden inserts). I'm in the same situation with wanting a milling machine too lol. Just made some Foredom handpiece holders from wood and aluminium, they are very nice, but would have been better to have milled them. I subbed your channel and will be keeping a lookout.
