My brother trained jiu-jitsu in Brooklyn way back in early 90s. I remember him telling us a few times about guys showing up in middle of training and want to fight the teacher. They would inevitably leave looking foolish. This is before ufc made this art really so respected and acknowledged.

Still always amazes me how some people completely overestimate their fighting ability. Unless you train all day every day with professional fighters, then don't step up to them. No different than if you tried to play football or basketball with the pros.

At lot of people think they can "make" it to the professional leagues had "one" thing gone their way. Look at Brian Scalabrine, not even a key role player but after his retirement destroyed all gym warriors and even former D1 ball players. Fighting is just like any sport, the coaches teach you to watch out for things that people do to telegraph their next movement. Even if you trained in MMA, you would have to spend countless hours sparring and watching tape to get rid of your bad habits and to watch for other people's bad habits. You fighting a pro fighter and might as well verbally tell him what you're going to do, he can see it in your movements.
