It really comes down to ''man behind the machine'' who makes the differences isnt it?

The Taiwanese AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo was based on the F5 family The Japanese Mitsubishi F-2 is a multirole fighter derived from the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Israeli Lavi was an unsuccessful F16 knockoff The Israeli Nesher & Kfir and South African Atlas Cheetah are local takes on the Mirage III/V The LCA Tejas is considered a failed Indian attempt to assemble their own “light” Mirage 2000s The Chinese used the MiG 21 as a base in developing J7s and J8s and the MiG 19 for the FT-6. Similarly the Su27, Su33 and Su35 platform has been used for the J11s, J15s and J16s Now coming to the Pakistani semi indigenous JF17 which has been called a “the ultimate MiG 21 ”, “poorman’s F16” and “a F16 & MiG21 hybrid”. These are the following theories from which it came from Heir of the MiG21 The JF17 arose from the Super Sabre II and Super 7 project which was aimed at making a better J-7 fighter jet for the Pakistani Airforce. This theory seems to be the most credible as the JF17 was initially called the Super 7 before being renamed as the JF17. Thus the JF17 descends from the MiG21 family. However not everyone accepts this 'SUPER-7' set to take maiden flight Made in Pakistan F-16 According to this theory with the Super 7 project going nowhere, the PAF decided it would simply make its own F16 from the fleet it had at its disposal they teamed up with the Chinese and built a design which helped to mitigate some of the limitations of the F16 A/Bs in service with the PAF Frankenstein Fighter This theory contends that the JF17 is a hybrid of the best things of the F16 and MiG21. Thanks to China’s access to F-16 design specs that joint venture resulted in an amalgamation of F-16 and Mig-21 characteristics, creating an aircraft that some contend is greater than the sum of its parts. Elements of both aircraft can be seen in the FC-1 (JF-17 in Pakistan), with the F-16’s nose and tail joined by a distinctly MiG-21 wing design. The single engine MiG 29 MiG-33 was the development designation of the aircraft that was eventually delivered as the MiG-29. Certain variants of the MiG-29 were designated MiG-33.The designation MiG-33 has been associated with two different Mikoyan fighter designs. It was first employed for a single-engine, lightweight strike fighter similar in capabilities to the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. More formally known as "Project 33", development work began on this design about 1980, but was cancelled in 1986 as the result of changing Soviet Air Forces requirements. According to this theory in 1998 China purchased the design and test data from Russia to aid in expediting the development of the JF-17 Thunder. Single Engine MiG-29 ? Return of the Tigershark A new theory on the market is that the JF17 is actually a modernized F20 Tigershark. The Northrop F20 was called the “best fighter that never went into production”. Northrop actually pitched the F20 for the PAF in 1980s by marketing the aircraft to the Pakistan Air Force with a license production manufacture of the aircraft. It was evaluated by a Pakistani contingent in the United States, with the F-20 being flown by Abbas Mirza, a senior Pakistani Air Force fighter pilot. Of the components of the F-20, the radar would end up being the most successful; Taiwan selected it for the Ching-kuo, South Korea also adopted it for the KAI T 50 Eagle. Under Project Sabre II and the Chinese Super-7 project, the F-7 airframe was redesigned with angled air intakes on the sides of the fuselage so a solid radome nose could house radar and other avionics from Northrop's F-20 "Tigershark" fighter. So some say the JF17 is a bigger better F20 Tigershark. So in the end we can see there are many who claim the JF17 actually descended from this or that fighter but in the end the JF17 is largely making a name on its own capability instead on the name of another fighter.

According to unconfirmed media reports the induction is expected to start around 2019.[189] As of September 2016, the design of the JF-17 Block III has been finalized.[190][191][192][193] The PAF is expected to place an order for 50 JF-17 Block-III fighter jets in the first half of 2017.[194]

@@user-if4zv5nj5m actually I have to disagree with you, I think the JF-17 is much more superior at Air to ground then the F-18. The F-18 can’t carry A/G weapons on most the pylons. A JF with GB-6 SFW x2 and BRM-90 pods x2 (38 laser rockets) will take the F-18 3x rearms to get anywhere near the same amount of ordinance. The F-18 can only carry 4x MAV’s for anti-tank and that’s it for A/G for that trip. Same for Anti radiation missiles. As for the JF it can carry 38 laser rockets for anti-tank plus it has another 2x pylons for more ordnance. For Sead it can carry the same amount of anti-radiation missiles as the F-18 but still have another 2 pylons for more weapons. So although it has less pylons it can actually carry more ordinance when it comes to A/G. Also the TGP in the F-18 is horrible to use compared to the F-18. When the F-16 gets all it ground attack weapons it will also completely dominate the F-18 for A/G also with it SFW glide bombs.

There is a very serious community of 1v1 Merge Dogfighters in the GTAV. The game is nothing close to the real thing but it does harden the fundamentals of defense flying and aggressive speed tactics. I had a huge interest in it for a few years and competed in multiple tournaments against 200+ other pilots around the world. I eventually grinding hard enough to be named within the top 5 in that community but stopped at a skill ceiling when I didn’t have any other challengers qualified enough to push me further. There is many course correction techniques I would of loved to try in DCS in a 1v1 dogfight. For example a forced upward or downward corkscrew. In the GTA physics stalling occurred much more rapidly and allowed techniques from pivoting after a stall to Cobra Maneuvers to kill your opponent easier than usual. Eventually there was 2 very distinctive techniques, the slower dogfighter that understands how to use stalling to his/her advantage and speed flyers that understand the correlation of the enemy pilot turning at a moment to counter react by attempting to remain behind their opponents until they make a slip in their vector. Does DCS have similar styles of dogfighting? Love the videos

When the missile did the 180 did he get a missile warning, a break, then another warning? Or just a missile warning when it turned back into him. I'd be real interested in knowing what his situational awareness was during that sequence.

In my experience, the two aircraft are about as neck and neck as you can get in a dogfight, though my money would be on the hornet. At lower speeds, the Jf-17 does appear to be able to pull very tight turns on par with the hornet BUT, the Thunder will generally loose a rate fight with it.

@Cragified
@Cragified 3 жыл бұрын
@@PolarBearSeal I am on the fence myself. While I think certain modules have weapons that are out of jive with the world of DCS (not saying overperforming compared to RL though that is certainly a possibility). And thus having a standardization is good. The time it takes for ED to get around to updating or adding makes me wonder if future modules might be lacking weapon systems until ED feels the desire (I.E. their own module) to do them.
@ffwrdm8332
@ffwrdm8332 3 жыл бұрын
Um the SD-10 is the Aim-120. In august or September there was a bug that only effected ED aircraft where they always detected the SD-10 missile no matter how far away it was or in any mode. For example a SD-10 fired at 60nm in TWS the F-18 would get I stand warning. So as a workaround until ED can fix it ED decided to make the SD-10 is all the aim-120 files. All they did was change the burn time and decreased how resistant it was to counter measures but everything else is the same. So your biased opinion is in fact saying the Aim-120 is OP hahahaha
