JFK (John F. Kennedy) international airport is located outside of Manhattan which is at Jamaica Queens served by multimode public transportation; LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) from either Grand Central or NY Penn station, MTA Q city bus (i.e. Q3 and Q6), and subway (i.e. Sutphin Boulevard/JFK E train station from 34th Street - Penn Station, or from 53rd Street/Lexington Ave - Grand Central) to reach the Jamaica AirTrain station.
This presentation shows an over-the-window AirTrain ride view from Jamaica station along the interstate and residential area reaching Federal Circle (car rental station and an option to transfer to Howard Beach bound) as the first stop, Terminal 8, Terminal 7, Terminal 5 (including its TWA hotel), and Terminal 4 as final stop before going back to Jamaica station during construction. There is a free shuttle bus from Terminal 4 to get to Terminal 1 should you need to transfer.
As illustration there are parts showing the pathway to reach individual Terminal's Departures from associating AirTrain and from Terminal 4 Arrivals to Terminal 1 Departures by the shuttle bus, helping you in navigating one of the NYC Midtown Manhattan busiest airport hubs.
