It's inaccurate that he found himself transfered to the Pacific theatre. Actually due to his health problems the navy would have prefered he was kept to a desk job. He had been denied officer training before but used his father's contacts to finally get officer training for duty on an active ship. But even then they sent him to the Panama Canal, far from the action. He had a senator friend of his father put pressure on him to send him to the Pacific.

I first found your channel from your George HW Bush video, I’m a British guy, but I’ve always had a strange fascination, however this video, is the first of yours to capture my full interest, I find the words of Inga’s letter “if I follow my heart as a true poet, it would be a love letter” to be some of the most beautiful words I’ve heard in what is meant to simply be a written letter.
