Happened on this while I was searching for an old review of mine for reference - how come you didn't tag me so I'd get to see it straight away on release? 😜 Just a couple points on this *five* year old video spring to mind: If it got you painting Iron Warriors, it did exactly what it was supposed to at the time! Masking tape, pin vices and such are all useful tools to have in the kit, but these have always been aimed at folks just getting started - none of the Gucci gear yet. Secondly, on drilling bolters. I even agree that it looks better, but it's hardly integral to a miniature. Do it or don't - it's a matter of personal preference. I'm not all that worried my toy soldiers are going to have clear barrel jams before they can shoot. 😂

4:08 Because this is a tutorial for beginners and beginners don't want to buy additional stuff before they know they will enjoy something. Additionally painting stuff by hand is good practice (even if it is not the fastest for batch painting). Kind of the same with drilling barrels. Not necessary for beginners, especially if they don't have a pin vice.

Have to say I actually like watching these critique videos. There are things, even as a beginner that you should do and not do. And if you are a beginner, you want to find a guide that is going to teach you the right way.

I can argue that one should use tape tonpaint the lord discondant on the whatever beast too. Just cut the tape to size.
