...ran an entire midfield by himself?Go back and watch the game and you'll see that he had Viera and Maukelele behind him. Those are some of the best CDMs in history. Also france kept the game a bit scrappy and were hitting them on the counter alot. Zidane was amazing but we tend to look back at this game with nostalgia.

Zidane played a number 10 role And played everywhere in midfield and was the one responsible to controlling the tempo of the game Makalele and viera were really just helping defense Their work rate was good in both And 2002 and 1998 he did run the midfield And in real madrid galacticos There were guti david beckham and zidane was still playing medium He really carried the team
