Someone from Europe would not ask if you wanted to play soccer. They'd ask if you wanted to play football. It's played with your feet, unlike American football which is played using your hands.

Comics tell the same jokes for a year or more. Everything is televised now so the idea of doing clubs and building up a set is lost. But that's how stand up works.

From someone who doesn't understand the metric system (which goes in tens) I would also expect not to understand soccer. The US is probably the only place in the world where soccer is not appreciated. Nonetheless, Jim Breuer is a really funny guy.

Sorta like baseball in Germany? Kids here were getting more exposed to soccer about 20yrs ago with junior leagues at most local park systems. But, like alot of places, most kids here would only play soccer if it was a video game. When I was growing up in the 70's, we never played soccer. We had baseball, basketball and tackle football to keep us occupied. When I was in Spain in the late 80's the two major sports were soccer and basketball, unless you count bull fighting. Referring to the metric system insult, it's for the same reason. It's not taught to the children at a young age. And, baseball can be almost as boring as soccer. Both are great sports to play, not so much to watch. Unless you like watching grown men pretend to have a life threatening injury after barely being touched. It's part of the game, just like basketball.
