Corbett was a volunteer not a hired hunter ....even out of pocket expenses such as buying bait cattle was out of his own mostly...he is greatly respected in his area of the Himalayas...the Kumaun region...

That rifle is absolutely priceless. The fact that it was owned by Elmer Keith later is just the cherry on top.

He didn’t make a living hunting man eaters. I believe he worked for the Indian Civil Service. He did all this for free.

Jim Corbett & Kenneth Anderson ❤

Well I would like to add and correct a very fundamental error in this video...Jim Corbett never was a gun for hire. He always insisted on removing the "Free hunt" policy when he went after a man-eater...money was the last thing he wanted... Reason being his love for Indian wildlife and their conservation was his topmost priority, no wonder the first national park in India was named after him...Je was a greater conservationist then a hunter...

From what I have read on mr corrbett, the rifle he used most was not this particular rifle. The one he is most noted for using was his .275 Rigby (aka the 7x57 mauser)

Never made his living from hunting maneaters,he was a humble railway clerk.

One of his rifles that's mentioned in his books and which seems to have "vanished" was a .500 caliber with a Jones under-lever action.

Kenneth Anderson.... He was also equally great.... He was given less recoganisition just because he was doing things down south... But I believe he was equally good.

That’s an impressive rifle to be sure, but not as impressive as Jim Corbett himself! If Corbett’s rifle could only talk, what stories we’d hear!

How do you have access to these guns? Incredible!

To think that you are holding the rifle that took down both the Champawat man-eater and the Powalgarh Batchelor is absolutely incredible.

I think champawat he used a modified 500 nitro express and a martini henry but he used this one for the Batchelor its crazy it took that to the face and was pretty okay considering.
