I would love to see Jim Cornette in the next GTA game as... ...well, Jim Cornette. An overzealous pompous arrogant hell of a opinionated, controversial talker that runs a wrestling promotion in Liberty City/Los Santos/wherever the hell the locale for the next game is, with his missions involving putting hits out on other promoters or taking a baseball bat to a guy that refuses to do the job to another wrestler.

Kim Martin TheAPTGamer is right, they had Hogan do the voice for one of the characters in Saints Row The Third and even Roddy Piper as himself in the 4th game to parody the movie he starred in "They Live". Not only that, but the games are made by THQ, who also up until last year did the WWE games. I would just love for them to add wrestling moves in the next GTA though. mharris1270 70's and 80s era Wrastlin was great, but it would bomb on TV today...and if we want all of it to get better you have to compete on TV. Also, if you are generating good regional live shows, but lack the punch on TV to make the capital value of the promotion bigger, WWE will just destroy your promotion. That is why the other companies operate the way they do, without a TV market share they can't generate enough capital to keep the WWE legal steamroller on the trailer. Basically, the other promotions make just enough money that the WWE can't submit them in the courts...a small live promotion that starts to get popular will get swallowed up or offered more money than they could refuse...that is how the original WWF was built. Plus, Corny and JR would just be wasted if they weren't doing TV spots. The attitude era was pretty awesome, except when they went a little too far. Just need a few small stables of guys and stop trying to be a PG soap opera.

Even though I think he made the point as clear as it could be, I think a lot of viewers missed it. He wasn't "bragging" about "almost shooting Brock Lesnar", he was telling Lesnar about the reality of the wrestling business. Ever heard of Harley Race? The man carried a shotgun. Bruiser Brody? Stabbed to death. Cornette was trying to keep Lesnar alive. That said, I could go for Lesnar in an indie locker room. Brock Lesnar vs Ryan Slade, One On One, For The Steel Domain Wrestling Northern States Heavyweight Championship!

SharksRule86 Blasphemy how? The Streak was ended by him because the Undertaker wanted him to end it. To take your "blasphemy" notion then in the case of the Streak, Undertaker was God. And if God himself wished it to be ended by a certain person then it's blasphemy to suggest his way was wrong.
@Kfowlkes099 жыл бұрын
Macephtopheles Except that the Streak was supposed to end 3 times before it finally did. Kane and Henry refused. That was their choice. Not Taker's. I imagine WWE made the decision not to let Orton end it. But again, wasn't Taker's choice.
@verigone26778 жыл бұрын
+SharksRule86 they should have brought someone who really loves the business to break the streak. Bring back Mic Foley for a match, have The Rock do it, see if Steve Austin had one left in him, or push the next young guy with huge upside to do it...or better yet, let the guy who worked is ass off for 30 years in this business keep his streak and retire with it. I guess they were just afraid that they wouldn't ever find another guy that would be able to stay relevant for 20 20+ years to ever break it...but why would that streak ever need to be broken?

Everything he's saying is true. This is why people who were fans of Lesnar back in 2002-04, myself included, can't stand him now. He had everything, including legions of fans, and walked away. But did it in a very disrespectful manner. It hurt a lot of wrestling fans. And the sad thing is, he hasn't changed. He's jumped ship so many times. When he was dominating, and then when he had a legit challenge to prove he wasn't invincible, he'd walk away. Granted these guys and gals take beatings. But either you stick it out through the pain and stay loyal, or you walk away and don't come back. And if you do come back, don't try and act like you don't have a past with a company. This is also why SO many people were beyond pissed it was Lesnar who beat Taker. Not that he lost, but who defeated him.
@Denji20068 жыл бұрын
+John Mathews I really feel it was a bad move on Vince's and Taker's part. You'd think if Taker was giving up the streak, it would've been to "one of the boys" or someone who's set in WWE to catch that heat to build the ultimate heel or something. Granted, he should've never dropped the streak in the first place. But he handed it to an outsider if you think about it. Doesn't care about the industry, doesn't care about the locker room or the history. At that point, the streak was bigger than the WWE title. Such a waste.
@SuperFunkmachine8 жыл бұрын
+Denji2006 It should of been give to a up and coming wrestler, someone that would be around to use the boost.
@Denji20068 жыл бұрын
SuperFunkmachine If they didn't screw up Wyatt so much, that could've been his spot. Just match his "powers" and all that to rival 'Taker's and it would've been great. The torch would've been passed having Wyatt fill "the Undertaker roll" on the roster. That's one of the serious flaws WWE has these days, they don't protect people anymore. If they protected Wyatt, that could've set him up for life as "the guy who ended 'Taker". In kayfabe land with all the "powers" and shit, they could've played it up as something even his brother Kane couldn't pull off after all these years and Wyatt was the only one.

@kimblandino9 жыл бұрын
Shelton with a steady development would of made a good champion in early 2006. 2005 was a terrible year for him, he got less over as a babyface as the year went on, and he lost the IC to Carlito signifying Carlito as the new young stud. A correct mid-year heel turn and build to him vs Edge or Cena in early 2006 would have worked if he was booked strong, and his promos were short and to the point, and he would probably still be there today.

it's really a shame cornette didn't do it, brick and his overrated, one dimensional, burying, part timer ass are the worst thing to happen to the business in years. people are FINALLY starting to give brock the x-pac heat he deserves. it's just a shame it took that burial of dean ambrose at wrestlemania for it to happen. when time goes by and people can speak freely without fear of vince, i think it will come out that brick is the most hated man in the business.

I agree with you for the most part, but Ambrose is just fine my friend he's the world champ and won money in the bank. Lesnar isn't the worst thing to happen but he's not the best. The only reason he's kept in the WWE is because its a business and he is a HUGE draw for PPV's.

And again that is the guy they decided to put over Taker at WrestleMania? Drives me crazy. What they should have done is Taker win by DQ with Lesnar betting the hell out him with a chair or something after not being able to pin Taker with F5s and then "break" Taker's arm with the kimura lock. Lesnar would keep his heat by having Heyman cme out and say we didn't break the streak, but Lesnar broke the man. He broke the phenom, he broke the Undertaker. Of course if someone was smart you could take aspects of this interview and turn it into a good promo. The way you beat Lesnar is how you beat any bully. You stand up to him. You keep fighting, because it's the same for him as it is for all bullies once they realize they can't put you down they will quit. Throughout his careers Lesnar has proved this. Life on the road 300 days a year is too tough and he quits after WrestleMania 20. He tries his hand at football and he gets cut from a team, does he try somewhere else with another team? No he quits. He tries MMA and he wins a few fights, but as soon he comes up against fighters that are as big as him, as strong as him and are better fighters he quits. Now with nowhere else to go he comes back to the WWE with a contract that keeps him off the road. He gets to go home, rest and come back when he wants to. I (insert whatever wrestler you want) am on the road 300 days a year and am happy to do it, because I love this business. Lesnar I'm not going to back up, I'm not going to back off. I'm going to keep fighting until you quit and this time you will not come back.

I remember reading about Jim's wife Synn's ankle break (this was in a California promotion called, I think, Incredibly Strange Wrestling, where they had stuff like "tubs of HIV-tainted syringes" matches and wrestlers demonstrated using a blade to gig themselves right to the audiences), and that story left me with a weirdly uneasy feeling for the rest of the day. Holy crap, it was a brutal injury, and she carried on with the match anyway.

@Al72492 жыл бұрын
Tbf Cornette did say Synn had a high level of pain tolerance and from the commenti saw about an ankle break and still going through the match. So that plus her having worked with Brock she probably thought she could handle it. Despite the I guess teasing that'd make me uncomfortable with doing something like. I definitely understand what you mean though, I'd have wanted to change the move or just not do it outright till I healed. Crazy ass story, Brock could've injured her.

Hell, I remember a video in which a wrestler (I want to say Perry Saturn, but I am not 100% sure) was asked a question about who would win in a fight between Haku, the Barbarian, Saturn and a couple of other tough guys. Saturn explained that Barbarian would SURVIVE the fight, but Haku would kill everyone and there is nothing that no one could do about it. There's a story on him taking on five guys outside of a bar, being pepper sprayed, pausing, breathing in the spray like some kind of extra-strength Sudafed, and just continuing to wail on the poor dumbasses. Also, he bit a guy's nose off and spat it back in his face.
