Lyrics
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure, and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

Sad story: 3 days after Jim Croce died in a plane crash, his wife received a letter from him, saying he was quitting concert touring so he could retire and spend the next 30+ years with his wife and 1-year-old son. So the lyrics of the "Time In A Bottle" song are almost a preminition, like he knew he wouldn't get to spend much time with his family, so he recorded a beautiful song for their memories.

Yeah, and his ex-wife also got together with a guy after Jim that beat his son and made him go partially blind. The whole story is quite sad, I feel so bad for Jim's son, he was the one who was truly robbed.

You and me both. I played piano for this song for my 4th grade class to sing for our seasonal plays and concerts. I played it again for a Farewell piece for Mormon missionaries. Never knew the lyrics just how to play it and took me years to understand the crying by everyone was for the beauty and not because I messed up. Only day I've seen my mother and God mother cry to date.

I understand the sorrow, the sadness, and the very deep meaning in the reality of loss a lot of these comments portray. But having experienced that same loss in ways I don't care to talk about, I view this as a somber, beautiful celebration of life and the memories we create. Nothing lasts forever. There's a reason people celebrating their 60th year of marriage make the news.

For anybody that's had that one love that they kinda know was "it," well, this song just crystallizes it. "I've looked around enough to know, you're the one I wanna go through time with." It's beautiful. It captures that sense of sureness that you really only get the one time. I know I'll love again. I have loved again. But, I'll never be stupid enough to love somebody THAT much ever again, and thank god 😂. There's something so innocent but so real about that feeling. If I could save time in a bottle The first thing that I'd like to do Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away Just to spend them with you If I could make days last forever If words could make wishes come true I'd save every day like a treasure, and then Again, I would spend them with you But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do once you find them I've looked around enough to know That you're the one I want to go through time with If I had a box just for wishes And dreams that had never come true The box would be empty Except for the memory of how they were answered by you But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do once you find them I've looked around enough to know That you're the one I want to go through time with

I am into the heaviest rock ever created....However , when I am in the mood for something lighter , and mellow , Mr , Croce is one of the few artists I listen to ....This song is almost too beautiful....The only drawback ....it is over to o quickly....A timeless masterpiece....He had quite a few to his name....RIP , JIM .

One of the best songs ever written both lyrically and melody wise. It's quite cathartic. I was inspired to learn how to play the song in guitar just so when I'm in those moods, I can play it and emphasize. Cheers. 🤙
