I don't think it's true you die when you're forgotten. You live on in the people you affected, and on again through the people that they affected even if they don't know it's a piece of you they're being affected by. You're infectious for good or evil.

I started watching TPB after hearing about the passing of John Dunsworth (AKA Jim Lahey). Jim Lahey's character was not only a drunken asshole, at his core he was also a father to the boys. He was a man constantly pushed to the brink, a victim of unfortunate circumstances who had to constantly battle his inner and outer demons to keep the park together. Ricky, Bubs and Julian are great and so are the rest of the characters, but without Lahey there is no show, that's why season 13 was never made. Jim was the liquor captain, the shithawk, the whispering winds, and the father the boys never had... RIP Mister Dunsworth, you were the greatest drunk trailer park supervisor that ever lived.

Met him when he and Randy did their show in Northampton, MA, not long before he died. We went to their show, and afterwards were at the bowling alley watching a band and I looked out the window to the lanes and said, "Hey that looks like Mr. Lahey. Hey it IS Mr Lahey!" He was walking through the bowling alley to the snack bar. My friend who's from Canada kept him in conversation for quite some time. Nice guy. Very surreal to hear he died soon after that.

This hit me like a ton of bricks at end of season 12. Hard to describe that feeling of laughing nonstop when he’s acting and the last episode being no exception…to just then see this clip that was preceded by news of his passing. I was in a state of shock. Had my beer and a nice buzz and went from laughter to tears. Beautiful message…though I do not agree that death in this life is the end. I am certainly grateful for the countless hours of laughter this man gave me and many others. RIP.

I cried to this. not ashamed to say it. After seeing ALL the content from trailer park boys this ending really brings the reality of the world to our faces, In the background of the show there are some moreal lessons to be said. sure they are buried in a shitstorm of madness but that how the show goes, people watching it looks for a relaxing fun time the the crazy gang and all. But this, this puts a stop to all of that and brings us a drop of true wisdom from this man. Rest in peace John, i'll remember you for what your stand for even more than Lahey.

taking a break to let cheesburger gut plow you from behind is a good way to cut back on any other bad habit you may have as well.
@RD1R2 жыл бұрын
I think that was part of his character's intention. He was making fun of the ridiculousness of letting liquor do the thinking for you. Instead of just saying "Alcohol BAD" he was pointing at it and laughing with the viewer. Maybe even saying "hey, you don't want to let your life go this off the rails." Lahey's overall story is really sad even within the TPB world. While the other characters are mostly lifelong troublemakers and schemers, he had a career well above the rest of the Sunnyside. And he lost everything, and continues to lose everything for the whole show, because he can never move past his demons. He occasionally cracks and really lets out how he's using liquor to overcome his current state; living amongst the societal trash he used to look down on. I say all this because TPB was also a big part of my life, and a big part of beating addiction. I think it really is a deeper show than it first appears, delving into things like the value of medical cannabis and the injustice of charges related to it, but also the greed and foolishness that follow illicit scams and schemes. It shows what it's like to lose family and friends and how sometimes losing friends can become better than family. And it puts a layer of hilariousness over all of it to make it more relatable. Almost all of these guys came from theater backgrounds, TPB is more like a play in it's subtle lessons than most TV shows. Lahey was very much from that world. His character is complex by design, he's far from just a generic foil.
