THE DUTCH GUY

THE DUTCH GUY

3 жыл бұрын

Collecting the words of Jim Morrison 2021, Anne Morrison Chewning, Robby Krieger, John Densmore, The Doors.
When the lead singer of The Doors, Jim Morrison, died in 1971 at age 27, he left behind boxes filled with poetry, journals, and handwritten lyrics of what would become some of the era's most memorable songs. His sister, Anne Morrison Chewning, has now compiled material from his archive into a new book, "The Collected Works of Jim Morrison." Correspondent John Blackstone talked with Chewning, and with the two surviving members of The Doors - drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger - about Morrison's impact as a writer and performer.

I think it's just amazing that Jim's sister has painstakingly taken care of his writings and artifacts. This is what family is about.

I love that John learns something new from Robby about the lyrics from Light My Fire over 50 years later and we witness that moment.

Nobody knew in 1967 that this was some of the best popular music that would ever be made. We're still listening to "Light My Fire" and the other Doors' songs more than 50 years later.

The most engaging group, with an electric frontman. Jim Morrison was the fire, the band was the perfect palette.

Would like to see a whole documentary of his sister going through all that gold mine of his stuff.

everything fell into place for this band to have a guy who looked like that and wrote and sang like that with a keyboardist with that much talent which imo doesn't get enough credit is truly amazing.

Ancient Gaelic culture, "the poet" was very important in society. Jim's roots are Gaelic.

Thank God Jim Morrison is finally getting the recognition and respect he so duly deserves. The Doors have always had a cult following that continues to grow, but a fairly recent ‘psychoanalysis of him by some KZfaq psychologist was offhandedly dismissive with no insight into the soul of this great poet. As a fifteen year old in 1968 hearing the Doors for the first time was truly life altering, it has the same effect today. Jim Morrison and the the Doors will continue to perplex and mesmerize long after that internet ‘psychoanalyst’ is long forgotten

His mother and father didn’t get him but his sister preserved his legacy. She is so smart and cute. She obviously cared about her brother and his work by preserving everything in a vault. Very wise.

"its like some psychedelic dream we had years ago..." enough to make me cry. Top 5 band from the 60's hands down!

I'm so looking forward to getting this book. Have always loved Jim M and the doors. Met him once when he and the doors played at my High School. Right before he became famous! Jim was rolling around on the floor (in our gym) during the concert and I guess the principal didn't like that, so he called the police and as Jim laid there completely passive, they literally "dragged" him away.
