Jim Morrison & Ben-Fong Torres 1971 March Interview
This unintended interview with Jim Morrison by Ben Fong-Torres takes place at Diane Gardiner's apartment in February of 1971 during a chance encounter between Jim and Ben. Later, Ben publishes the piece in the March 4th, 1971 issue of Rolling Stone magazine under the heading "Jim Morrison's Got the Blues". In this interview, Jim discusses learning to scuba dive in Nassau, his film HWY, recording the L.A. Woman album, and partway through the interview, Pamela Courson joins the conversation. A tape recording of this interview is known to collectors.

What a well spoken, thoughtful, and highly intelligent guy. Oliver Stone really butchered what could've been a great piece of film about a highly interesting man.

Oliver Stone is a fake rebel, he’s actually a tool of the establishment and a propagandist. What a fucking joke he and his Doors movie was.

A really important interview. Talking about HWY. Gives it context. Would be interesting to see this interview analysed with his film. Very prescient stuff in here. He's anticipating punk or something in some way. What comes next? He knows his stuff has a shelf life.

Drunk and crazy is the character the media painted so you wouldn’t listen to a lot of what he said because it threatened the establishment and their totalitarian control over society. It’s also why they killed him.

That's not the last picture of him. Jim shaved his beard off a few months before he died. He's clean shaven in most of the Paris pictures, and the police report from July 3rd describes a 27 year old, clean shaven man whose body is found by paramedics in the bathtub and laid on the bed.
