I still watch matches just for JR’s commentary. He and Lawler were an awesome pairing who elevated the match quality to unprecedented heights. There will never one like good ‘ol’ JR.

In my opinion, phrases like “this is a slobberknocker” “he’s running like scalded dog” “he’s stomping a mud hole and walking it dry” “he’s getting whipped like a government mule” “good Gawd almighty he has been broken in half!” has cemented Jim Ross as the absolute greatest colour commentator in the history of wrestling.

I'm not even exaggerating when I say this man and his voice raised me just as much as my own family did. I first started really watching wrestling around 2002/2003 when I was 6 years old, and JR was instrumental in helping me learn about everything and everyone I was seeing every week. At this point, I pretty much consider him to be like a grandfather figure to me. Boomer Sooner, good ol' JR. 🤠

JR will forever be the voice of Raw. He made it real as he knew what these guys did was real. Always remember watching a ladder table and chairs match. Hardy boys vs Doddly boys vs Hege and Christin. . Jeff is on the very top of the ladder inside the ring gonna do his finish move from it. Man , no announcer comes close to how JR and king helped contribute to matches. They were just as much a part of each match as the wrestlers.

My favorite JR-Lawler exchange was during Jericho's debut on RAW, and The Rock confronts him and says something like "Instead of the Y2J plan, The Rock's got a plan of his own, it's called the KY Jelly plan..." Lawler : "aha, you know what that is don't you, JR?" JR : "...yeah" Lawler: ".....you do?" Just perfectly encapsulates their chemistry. I was lucky to grow up with Monsoon and Heenan as a young child, then have JR and Lawler during my teens.

Jim Ross is up there with Babe Ruth , Tom Brady , Michael Jordan , The Beatles , Michael Jackson , Wayne Gretzky etc with being the flat out best at what he did. Here it is 2024 and were all still searching for another Jim Ross. He spoiled us big time back then. Thats why to me atleast to a degree any modern wrestling is second rate because JR isn't calling the action
