Jealousy is a bitch. I never was RVD's fan but i can admit that he was on a whole differend level than many guys out there. Especially back in 2001 - 2003. He was the most cheered member of the alliance and gained love and respect from many fans from the very beginning. There was alot of hate for him backstage because of that. Jericho, HHH, HBK and co... Hated to work with him.

RVD was highly entertaining to watch, and was unique from his move set, attire right down to his general attitude. He came from the "underdog" hardcore territory of ECW, but was able to Transend to the top of the WWE main event level when you had people like Triple H, Undertaker, Kane, Austin, Kurt Angle etc. It's no wonder that would breed so much hate

It’s interesting that JR likes to say “it ain’t Ballet” when Ballet is also an incredibly physical discipline that takes a steep toll on performers bodies throughout their career and can inflict severe injuries if a spot is botched.
@VitZ9
@VitZ9 2 жыл бұрын
Not only that, I'd go so far as to say ballerinas have it worse in some regards, they don't get to wear any protective pads. Ten years ago I used to work at a burger restaurant near a ballet school, they'd come in for a meal at the end of the day. Poor bastards would be in the theatre and training by 8am, have only a piece of fruit for breakfast, and then both males and females wouldn't eat anything during the day to keep their weight down for when they did lifts and their daily weigh-in. I'd see them out the window on their breaks, inhaling entire packets of smokes as an appetite suppressant. Then they'd come in around 6pm absolutely starving having not eaten for nearly 12 hours. Often they'd come in and their feet/ankles/knees would be swollen up like they'd just been hit by a car. The males would put away 3 meals most days, even the girls would down 2 burgers some days. Then they'd go home, sleep early, and be awake again at 6am to make it back to the theatre by 8am the next morning. Crazy the amount of punishment and training they put their bodies through, probably some of the toughest guys and girls I've met in any profession, despite their reputation for ballet being "soft".

HBK's mic skills, charisma, selling, chain wrestling, facial expressions, story telling ability were all superior to RVD's. I remember this period of RVD's career really vividly. He definitely cut open Austin and a few others and then you saw him pulling his moves over the next few months unless he was going against someone like Brock. I also remember that around this time there was a RVD/Rock match and The Brahma Bull didn't take 90% of RVD's patented moves. I was really young at the time but it was definitely one of those periods where I could see the machinations behind the curtains, so to speak.

It was awhile before RVD got a sniff at the main event scene again after that. He got _one_ title match ironically against Triple H late 2003, then spent the next three years mostly in the mid-card. He wouldn't get World-title match until 2006.

If multiple top talents are having a similar complaint, especially people who don't usually complain, there's probably something to it.

RVD probably has the most ass kissing fans ever. He was a bit too stiff and didn't help himself with how stubborn he was. That doesn't mean he isn't still one of the top talents of all time. He wasn't perfect and nearly killed HHH (who doesn't get credit for how tough he is).
