Hart of the YUKON - 14 Days Solo Camping in the Yukon Wilderness - Special Episode:
You can still expect to see episode 6 of this adventire series going up this Thursday at 7pm ET. This special episode is a condenced version of the first six episodes of my solo Yukon adventure down the remote Hart River in the mighty Peel Watershed. So, (spoiler alert), it will give you a bit of a sneek peek on the full version of ep. 6.
This is a mid-season recap that will show you the best of this remote river so far, including the mountain scenery, wildlife such as caribou, moose and Dall’s Sheep, as well as the food I’ve cooked up - Arctic Grayling fishing, challanges and more.
Join me in this immersive adventure. Subscribe to my channel to catch new uploads of ‘Hart of the Yukon Solo' for more captivating episodes, where each stroke of the paddle delves deeper into the essence of true exploration.

How lucky people are to be able to experience this...ive always lived in South Georgia never been able to even go on vacation anywhere ..but ive always felt like the Northern Wilderness is where i am suppose to be or shouldve been past 34 years. .Not here where i am. i would be so much happier living somewhere like that but Im trapped here with work and not being able to afford the move .. almost feel like my life is wasting bc im not where i should be .. im sure im not the only one ever felt this way. I Just hope people who are able to live in such a beautiful place or even vacation there know how lucky they are. I doubt ill ever make it there but maybe. I was jus meant to roam and explore be in the real wild .

You are not alone. I'm going to try soon. I raised my 4 kids by myself for the most part. I've been at my same job for 25 years. I feel like I'm wasting away in this stagnant hole. Alaska has always called to me.

Sell, give away, and throw everything you have. Then buy an older RV that is in good condition, and take off in that direction. The cost of living is so much cheaper in an RV. Workers are needed about everywhere you go.

Well Jim, you did it, I cannot go 1 day without watching at least 1 of your videos, sometimes 2. I’m born and raised in South Florida and have always loved the outdoors. The adventures that you and sometimes Ted go on are absolutely epic. It also goes to show that we really don’t have to go far to enjoy an adventure ourselves. You have inspired 10’s of thousands of people into doing just that. Keep up the incredible work Jim, I know I speak for many when I say we love your channel and all of the incredible hard work, from doing the trip, the epic filming and the never ending editing. You are the absolute best outdoor adventure channel on YT, by far. Thanks Jim

You are an amazing man. A great explorer, but most of all a great husband and father. You both are so amazing. You can live off the land, truly love and stay strong and loving and positive through all of it. So wise and so kind.

I'm 75 now and thanks to injuries from a drunk driver my better daze sic are behind me. I lived on a mangrove island in the Caribbean by myself for 2 years. Traveled North and South East and West. I'm going to take the liberty of saying it's not the pan you use that is sticky. Any stainless pan can be seasoned and if you heat the pan first then put in oil when pan is hot enough your food wont stick. When a drop of water dances in your pan then put in the oil. When your oil shimmers then put in your food. I know over campfire it's hard to control heat. I saw you do a tripod or you can use coals instead of flames so you dont have too high a heat and burn your food and your pan. I know it's a small thing whether your food sticks to the pan. What is a big no no are😮 nonstick pans. Non stick pans have teflon or other type of PFAS coating. I would caution against using any pans pots or anything used for cooking that has a nonstick surface made with a PFAS chemical costing. The EPA and the European Union have recently set strict limits for PFAS's in our drinking water and for a lifetime exposure. PFAS's are forever chemicals. 95 % of Americans have some amount of PFASs in their blood and throughout their body. Once in they can not be removed. Practically all US tap water will have to be tested by 2025.i would advise that you never use a non -stick pot or pan that has a PFAS surface. EPA's limit as of 2024 is 4 parts per trillion. No amount no matter how low is good for any human being. I noticed the pan was new it probably is thin to save on weight. I would suggest you use a regular stainless stell pan the weight wasn't important and the thicker pan would stop your food from overcooking and burning. bring a regular pan and a cover.

Or "yeeaahhh". Love it! Didn't realize this was Jim from alone until about 8 min in and he said something and his accent or just the way he talks made me remember who he was immediately from a show I hadn't seen in years.

Awesome shot at 1:29:55 Jim, the mountain with the cloud on top and the sun right behind it actually looks like a volcano erupting. Perfect timing Jim

Dude, I am 60 and was fortunate to have lived in Alberta for a year. Had to come back to South Africa for family commitments. Miss the peace and serenity. Wish I could do one of those trips with you. Catching fish in such crystal clear waters. Anyone able to sponsor me to go fish in Canada Yukon... pleaaaseee.

I enjoyed this. I’ve done lots of long-distance paddling. Mostly in kayaks in the central and southern US. My back issues don’t allow me to sit in a kayak or canoe for long periods anymore, so it’s nice to get to enjoy other people’s river trips.

Watching that amazing footage it reminds me of what the Smokey Mountains must have looked like 2-300 million years ago. Crazy to think that via erosion, migrating animals, birds dropping seeds, how they went from the same type of giant rocky peaks to smooth topped and tree covered. I have watched your video where you were hiking through my back yard on your trip down South, and from this trip it makes me ponder how time changes everything. millions of years from now those same mountains you are filming will eventually do the same, rolling hills of vegetation, and forests atop those peaks, if only we had time machines to see the slow changing topography would certainly be a sight to see.

Excellent journey! Being an avid Fly / Trout fisherman...envious of all of the Grayling you were into. Those stainless steel skillets take a lot of cooking oil to not stick as much...or you might also try a little oil and just a small splash of water added; maybe a tablespoon...might also lesson the sticking and deglaze the bottom. It's why I much prefer the carbon steel skillets...like the cowboy skillets. Season them right and they develop like a natural non-stick coating. That Rotel fish stew you made early on looked DELISH ! Some gorgeous back country there...

This was by far one of the best adventures I've watched on any streaming platform as of late! Thanks man, that was epic and your positivity every step of the way was inspiring! So refreshing to watch a journey that isn't focused on the "suffering/stranded" outlook a lot of these types of shows base the plot around! Stoked to see more of your adventures!

Thank you for this , dear Shannon. Praying for all of you in this time. I just have a song come into my mind just now... "In His time, in His time, He makes all things beautiful, In His time. Lord, please show me every day, As You’re teaching me Your way, That you do just what You say in Your time. In Your time, in Your time, You make all things beautiful in Your time. Lord, my life to You I bring, With its winter and its spring, May I fathom everything in Your time..." Yes, in His time He makes all things new. We trust Him through the good times, and through the trials. It's when He takes us through the fires of life, that it refines us for His glory! ❤ Blessings 🙏 P.S. Hoping you received my card ? 😊

Jim, such amazing content brother. Nothing better then seeing a new upload! Absolutely love all the Yukon & Northern CA adventures. Destressing, Inspiring, Calming, absolutely beautiful. To see the magic of the world in periods when I cant stand there myself. What a wonderful world was created for us. As a quantitative strategist who works extremely hard, building that part of my life to end up when I can wake up everyday to those views & experiences. Im working towards owning a 100+acre homestead in Northern Montana/Idaho, get a small bush plane, and keep these feet in a cold mountain stream. Live a little more connected to this beautifully wild home of ours. Appreciate the focus and effort for quality family friendly content. Also, my brother and I are wanting to take a similar trip, so would greatly appreciate your advice(time of year thats best, recommended trips, products, services, etc). I think a lot of people would greatly appreciate if you filmed an outro, intro, or sep vid that highlights all the products, services, brands, etc that you used on these types of adventures. Which would be an opportunity for sponsorships and offer many of those things in a store available on your website. Just an idea... We grew up in WV, so we're well versed in outdoors, but not trips in those areas with those conditions, risks, variables, etc.. I also watched your other adventure when you went down the Hess and Im curious which did you prefer? The fishing seemed a bit better on this one.. The water seemed a bit smaller too for longer, which Im sure was a pain for the first few days, but this trip was certainly magical. Or which recommended kayaking adventure would be best for fishing, including the small lakes of northern ca? Perhaps an idea for a video or book... Any rate, Im sure you get tons of questions and comments, ha, so no worries if you cant reply. Thank You & Godbless you and your family!
