Jimi can't be compared with anyone else. All of his contemporaries acknowledged he was the best. Some 50 years later guitarists who came after are still marveling at Jimi's talent. Putting it simple, there was nothing Jimi could not play on that guitar.

Jimi could play effortlessly with his teeth, behind his back, over his head, and between his legs. He was not the first. He learned these techniques whilst young from other artists at gigs around Seattle. But if that was not wild enough, he played a right handed stratocaster turned upside down and strung for left handed playing, which means that the stringing was reversed too AND he could play right handed but preferred left handed playing. You can take it from me, this man was a genius. No other word describes Jimi. Saw him and The Experience more than once. Your next stop? Jimi Hendrix, Johnny B Goode, Berkley. A cross between Jimi Hendrix, a song called Johnny B Goode, and an express train going at full speed. You will not believe what this man could do with a guitar. Absolutely mind blowing. If Jimi had stayed alive to see the advent of more advanced guitars and sound effects the results would have been out of this world. Unfortunately he was lost to us at the age of 27 in 1970. The greatest loss to music of a generation. I wept.

Wow great reaction, but that was weird it cut off the ending. As I said on your other Jimi videos most of the best Hendrix music and live footage is not available on KZfaq. Foxey Lady Miami Pop Festival 1968 is dope and available, and Voodoo Child from Woodstock and the Star Spangled Banner Woodstock 1969. For your own viewing Experience you can get the dvd Jimi Plays Berkeley, thats 1970. Also the concert this Hey Joe is from, Jimi Hendrix at Monterey Pop Festival 1967 dvd is cool it's his first American performance after becoming a star in England, it launched him to stardom in the US. 🎸🔥

Jimi set the bar for much of the way guitar-driven music is played even to this day. He wasn't trying to do that, but it couldn't have been anyone else. He was the embodiment of so much artistic style. He will be one of the last stars in the constellation that blinks out. "Machine Gun" : Fillmore East live, 2nd show, Band of Gypsies w/ Hendrix on{vocal & guitar}, Buddy Miles{drums & back-up vocals}, Billy Cox{Bass & back-up vocals} The full track is the (audio only) version, but I promise you'll "see" the music. Great upload and reaction, J.Fro90. Thanks.

L'm 74 years old started hanging out in the black bars when I was 16.. I first saw a cat play with his teeth in a traveling circus. Playing with your teeth, behind your head was standard fare for guitar players on the "chitlin circuit". Hendrix just happened to get "discovered". And he blew it up. Not too many of us around now but we lived through a great time for music and we got to see some really bad ass cats.

I was lucky enough to see Jimi live twice with The Experience (both times in Houston). The first show was at the Houston Music Hall (my first concert). I was stunned at what I was seeing and hearing. Human beings just aren’t supposed to be doing that (except for David Gilmour). At the 2nd show at The Sam Houston Coliseum, we had much better seats (around row 20 on the floor instead of row 15 in the upper balcony like we had at the first show). Why I remember it so clearly is because Jimi ran onstage wearing a black silk headscarf and dressed in a black silk bodysuit that had silver sequins running up and down his arm sleeves and the sides of his pant legs. We punks could only stare at this apparition of coolness before our eyes. Of course, Jimi just tore the stage down and we walked out afterwards in a dazed stupor. I think we’d just been Experienced.

Hey Joe, is my favorite too. Heard it first in the 7th or 8th grade if I recall, my brother was heavy into Hendrix at the time, and was in college, it was 97 or so, so our contemporaries were Smashing Pumpkins, grudge bands, Boys 2 men, lil Mimi(a lamb for life here BTW), SWV, Envogue etc, but I borrowed the Jimi Hendrix experience CD from Bubba Cris, dubbed it on cassette and wore this song out whoo! Lol so good.

You can see his entire performance at Monterey in June, 1967 on KZfaq. I’ve been playing guitar for 15 years and I’m pretty good, but few are as gifted as Jimi was. He wasn’t the first to play with his teeth or behind his head, but not many guitarists can play very well when they do stunts like that, Jimi stood out because he could do it so well. The trick to playing with you teeth is to stick out your upper teeth, and tuck in your lower teeth. You then use your upper front teeth like a pick, it’s a great way to get a reaction from people, but it’s not a very pleasant sensation in your mouth. Strings can also be sharp and you can cut your gums if you aren’t careful.

Although it doesn't have a video you need to check out Midnight from his War Heroes album. Mind blowing what he did on guitar back in the 60's and I will also add I can think of no other guitar player who was as influential and a following as Jimi Hendix. He has been dead 52 years and guitarist still copy and pay homage to him some even during their own shows. Haven't seen that for other guitarist by in large. BTW You show watch Jimi Hendrix movie documentary by Warner Bros and check out Machine Gun. Whew
