what a great review! Thanks guys. To be honest, when I first saw this performance at the Atlanta festival, I was shocked. Such drive and rhythm, mastery of performance, are simply incomprehensible.

He played those high notes on a right handed guitar standing up, it's already hard to bend those 22 fret high string on a normal guitar, and he did it flawlessly

Why was it so easy for Jimi? Because Jimi from cleaning up in the morning straight out of bed would have his guitar strapped on. On go the clothes, and on went the guitar. He ate breakfast with the guitar strapped on. He went to the loo with the guitar strapped on. Liked the echo effect. And the guitar only became unstrapped when it was time for bed. With that amount of commitment to the guitar seven days a week, Jimi and his guitar became as one. The ability therefore to express himself over the instrument was effortless, because the guitar was no longer an issue regarding playing. Instead it became part of Jimi and the ultimate tool for him to express his feelings musically. It was like a bridge direct from Jimi to us over which the music flowed. Wow how I miss Jimi. It has been decades now but still when I see him and hear his music I remember how it was at his gigs, and recall how amazingly talented he was. Jimi was simply on a different plane altogether from all other guitarists back then, and even today they still have not caught up. I do not think anyone ever will.

One thing that made him easy and unique , is that Jimi had long fingers. So he was able to move all up and down while playing licks . Not to mention , 4, 5 6 string he played using his thumb .

I regret that I only got to see Jimi twice before he died - 1968 Lewiston Maine and New Years day 1970 Fillmore East. Such a loss. And yes, he did play his guitar with his teeth/tongue and behind his head and back. ☮️✌️ When I was a Deadhead back in the 60's there was a delightful version of LSD called Purple Haze.

Lewiston, ME? I was born there! But I am a young 61! Never got to see the Great One!

@@BetterGreta13 I grew up in Hallowell and lived in Portland for many years before we moved to Oregon in the 90's. I was in high school when we saw Jimi in Lewiston, a few months after my first Grateful Dead concert.

he played upside down so that the controls were at the top which make it easier for him to access the controls

This band was when Jimi was already with a Band Of Gypsy's . You should do his live at the Filmore with a band of gypsy's .

Live at Monterey is a better performance. He did own left hand guitar he was notorious for pawn them for drugs for a quick high. So most time he used a right hand one
