My father didn’t talk to me very much as a child but I will never forget 4 words he said to me. We were in a record store, must’ve been waiting in my mother somewhere else in the mall. Well I was overwhelmed with all the music and couldn’t think of any band to look at. 11 year old me walked to my dad and asked “I can’t think of anyone to look at. Who do you suggest?” He said,” Jimi Hendrix is good!” Thank you dad. The best words you ever spoke to me. I went over to Hendrix’s bin and only picked the one where the artwork grabbed me. I remember it was a close up on Hendrix cuz he was the only thing you could see on stage and he was shining blue from the lights. It was Hendrix Live at Winterland! That was my introduction to a lifetime of listening to the man. I’m 51 and watching this first thing in the morning and Hendrix once again brings a tear to my eye. ✌️

The Tax Free from that album is other worldly guitar playing and you can't hardly find it anywhere. Even on the other Winterlland releases. Smh The Hey Joe is great to! I'm 17 years old and it is june 29 of 2024 currently. That concert just feels like some kind of paradise. Perhaps I haven't realized how true genius Hendrix was, but this sounds amazing in every possible way. Audience also behaves differently there. Right now everybody uses cellphones to record even the last second of the performance carrying no actual memory home. You literally see no phone but a group of people chilling and listening while living the moment even if they don't dance. I'd be mad crazy happy if society gets a little back to that behaviour.

@@BrokeBoyzInc It does not matter, boy. I'm saying it would be nice if concerts had less cellphones than they actually have. In fact, my word said it would be nice if some kind of interactions become purely organic again instead of using a screen. Nobody is as stupid as being capable of thinking phones were highly used on the 1970's, at least I hope someone like that does not exist. Indeed, The nice aspect of this concert i am pointing out is due to the lack of phones. You are welcome.

this version rhythm is spot on ,but he seems to be playıng a speeded up faster version, i like the one with more breathing room, but still there was/ is no one to compare to his acid blues infusion & next level original tunes, i used to dance & imagine skateboarding to this, can u feel the G-force transitions, swoops & turns & floating midair....only ... to... to drop in ...again there are those who do amazing covers of this tune but it took Jimi to run point & light the way for everyone to follow...

As others have said, film has long exceeded the quality of digital in both color and resolution. It's only been a few years that 8k digital exceeds 35mm film in effective resolution, but there's also 70mm (65mm film). If you wonder how old TV sitcoms from the '70s and '80s are converted to 4k, they're just scanning the original 35mm prints. How else would you release "Gone with the Wind" in 1938? Kids these days 🙄

For me, it is his groove feeling and his showman capabilities that are really impressive. Technically, a lot of current guitarists are as competent as him, or even better (like Tony Emmanuel, Julian Lage, etc, in another genres). And he was devoted to guitar, so his 10 years of « guitar practicing » are not the same as yours. But he certainly grew up in a musical environment, listening to a lot of (different) music and blues guitarists. That could make a huge difference in the way you perceive things and could lead you to really « internally » hear sounds that you are looking for and that are « melodic » or « groovy ». So yeah, for sure he was « special » and unique. But please do not throw your guitar :), it could take times to develop your musical skills, it is not a competition, be patient, love your musical journey (and nobody has the same), and maybe one day you will feel the stimulus that will connect your brain directly to the instrument 🙏🏻 - at this moment, we will be happy to listen to you playing the guitar even if you are 70 years old

It's ok to cry sometimes..... seeing much of his footage does it to me all the time. This was a photo of me side by side who I think was my biological father. Aside from no one being able to ever play like him again, his hands were absolutely enormous and incredibly strong, he just frets the notes half the time and doesn't pick. He had enough finger strength and leverage to just hammer on and it would sound the note. Combine that with a super unique style of just hanging your thumb over the top of the neck (which he would use to barr the ead strings) and you have a recipe for no one EVER being able to sound the same.
