This is an absolute masterpiece, perfection. I totally love it, I listen to it constantly. When they were making the album one of the producers said Jimin will end KPop with this music.

I think we were all surprised when this came out. And everyone was like what? Lol. The more you listen to it, the more you understand everything in this song and mv makes sense, whether its the poem written on him. The autotune that was used, the dancing, its actually one of my favorite songs. I love what he did here

In my opinion this is a performance piece. It’s meant to be performed in a big live production just like Jimin’s other solo song Lie.

About song...I respect the diversity of opinions.💜 I really love that he tried something new and experimental instead of chosing familiarity although this was his first official solo song. He said he wanted to be free from himself which is hard on him.😢 It's very easy to catch Jimin is the one who got the most of hatreds and attacks in BTS. But he did nothing against them. So I think this song is the right first his solo song which shows his mindset to the outside world.

my opinion was really similar to yours when i first heard it, because i was so shocked! but then i looked more closely at the lyrics and thought deeply about the context and choreo and found myself enjoying it a lot more. this song is almost like an exorcism of his past self and the external forces that have plagued him for years. set me free is the mantra. it’s just complete art in all aspects (in my opinion of course) if you check out his other solo song, “like crazy,” it is 100% different than this. i think you’ll really enjoy it!

I loved this. The things that you mentioned, auto tune and repetition , that stuff grows on you. Lots of people have said it took a few listens, and then they love it. Also, it’s his internal voice which on those parts, setting himself free. I’ve listened a hundred times by now. ❤

Honestly, I wasn't sure what to think of this one myself when I first listened to it. It's so wildly different from anything Jimin has ever done before, so that shocked me. And I'm not really a fan of auto-tune in general, so that threw me off quite a bit. It's certainly grown on me as I continue to listen to it, though. But also, this time is where they are SUPPOSED to be branching out, and trying new things. And yes, sometimes they may hit the matk for certain people and other times not, but you can bet that he learned a lot about himself and his music through making this song. And I think that's the most important part. Not everyone has to like every song, and that's perfectly ok. And I think you expressed your opinion very well and respectfully, which is much appreciated. Jimin is a creative artist. He always sings and dances with emotions. His choreo is also based on the lyrics. He repeats SEt me free as a shout or cry and the auto tune is used as another part of himself. If u dont follow and know him you wouldnt undrstand as to why he uses these things. We were all shock when Set Me free came out coz its not the usual Jimin that we saw from the past but when we learned about the song we understand it and it doesnt matter to us if other people might find it wierd. Jimin has another song Like Crazy and its another side of him. He doesnt stick to just one genre. He likes to experiment and give us different style everytime he surprises us. I must admit i loved it immediately but i can appreciate your point of view on first listen. A couple of points that i hope i am not repeating the hundreds of comments! The repeated set me free was designed to make the listener feel uncomfortabl, so they absorb the key line. The autotune is his inner shadow trying to hold him back, his fears. The setting is a panopticon - circular prison - where priso ers could not hide. Jimin is no longer hiding and accepts that he will be observed at all times but he is ready to meet his criticisms face-on now.

Set Me Free is a Suga song. This song has a similar theme so it's called Pt 2. I wasn't a huge fan of the auto-tune at first, but I think it just took me by surprise. After multiple listens, it's no longer a problem. His album, FACE, is short, but a solid album. Always love your reactions and I appreciate when you don't like something, you explain your opinion in a respectful way. I also like how you always find something to compliment.

i understand what you are saying and i agree. but i still love the song regardless but like crazy is better. this is a anthem and it is ment to be. so it´s like he is screaming at himself to be set free from his own prison. it´s a battle within him trying to block of all the negative thoughts he has about himself, witch is what the autotune represent in the song. and at the end after all the screams end, it is just quiet. i think if you look at it from an artistic view, it makes more sense. BTS usually do this in their songs. lots of meaning behind every little detail. th story behind the mv is also amazing and you would never think it held so much meaning but it does. there is a behind the scene video where an army explains it all

I have listen to the entire album. Each song leads to the next. It is his journey to freedom. This is the crescendo. That is why the Set Me Free is repeated. The fact that you liked so very little about this song, so very little, makes me realize that I will not be back to your channel. I view reactions not to " learn" about music but to enjoy listening to a song with another person. Your taste are 180 degrees from mine and it was not a fun experience

I think is just a matter of taste. Overall I really loved this song and I really liked how the autotune was used. It didn't bother me at all because I think it matched the dark theme that he was going for here and I thought it complimented the song well. I do agree with you however on the repetitiveness of the chorus. That's pretty much the only thing I didn't really care for. The choreo was amazing.

In my opinion, Jimin has received some criticism/doubts of his voice and auto tune and it's kinda of like - you think I use auto tune, well, here is some auto tune! And it's mostly in the verses, the chorus "set me free", doesn't have as much.

I'm a huge fan of his and I will say, your honest reaction was appreciated. I think a lot of youtubers prefer not to offend the fans and pretend to like the songs they're reacting to. Hopefully your feedback helps the artists involved.
