Jimmy Carr is one of the most under appreciated comedians. 8 out of 10 cats is both hilarious and insightful at times. Randomly found it years ago in KZfaq recommended and it’s pretty obvious with Jimmy as host he carried the entire show(he is host of more than one) then they made him the focal point. at first I thought weird British humor, but the dude genuinely makes me laugh out loud.

The United States is also a continuation of the British empire in ways aswell. Picked up the reins and started utilising the systems the British created in order to further their grip on global hegemony. Along with all the founding fathers being British meaning the values and culture are extremely similar. Just continued anglo hegemony over the world.

As an American, its nice to hear praise about the place I grew up in and shaped me into the person I am today. As opposed to the constant hate and calling attention to our flaws that we usually get from within and foreign celebrities. Currently living in Japan. The fact that there are people who dream of visiting the US in my neighborhood, and have this lovely image of it really makes me miss home.
@a-walpatches6460

That's because all Americans tend to go on about is how great they think the place is, usually without having the first clue about the world. It's a superiority complex born out of ignorance that annoys people who know better. I've been to the US twice and I hated it, I could never live there although there were some things I liked and in general the people weren't as arrogant as I was expecting. There's a weird vibe, it felt fake but I do like the look of New Orleans.

The people are really nice, and I find my work very fun and rewarding. I haven't been here that long, but so far I'm constantly having to allocate my free time to getting documents together so that city hall has them on file. The bureaucracy is very demanding and notifies you such that you just barely have time to get things together on the due date.

How can a public servant on a low six figure salary end up with almost half a billion in wealth? Systemic and total corruption is the only plausible explanation. You think these people will allow you to just vote them out? A little naive I think. They have already manipulated the variables in their favour. There is no one to vote for that isn't them. There isn't anyone who can do that today because the system has been rigged against the people. Wall street and big corporations are looking to make this a nation of renters and are well under way. Company towns are coming back, where corporations own the housing you live in and you work for them as well. It's only going to get worse as it has for the last 20+ years. One important thing to note is that the collapse of the Roman Empire wasn't this big dramatic event that happened overnight and the next morning it was like a medieval Mad Max. In reality, the collapse was a very slow, gradual process that took place over decades. Rome slowly lost more and more power, while its outlying territories became more and more independent, until it just made more sense to declare themselves their own kingdoms outright.

Something being based on X isn't the same as being X. At the height of empire, the British saw themselves as cultural successors to the Greeks and Romans (see their architecture, their worship of classics, even their music - e.g. the British grenadiers). @@imgoingonamarch No. There is miniscule Roman genetic influence. Culturally you could say the Romans influenced and inspired a lot, but they massacred villages, tens of thousands of people, marching across Germanic Europe.. and in the end it was Germanic people (including Saxons) who conquered Western (true) Rome. They insulted us, humiliated us, scattered us, but united, we were stronger. We across Europe still hold Rome and it's empire with nostalgia and reverence though. If it wasn't for Rome, there would have been no great French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese or British Empires. The specture of Rome, the fear they put in the world that there might be some distant "great power" that might just sweep in and take over, absolutely escalated a desire recreate this pre-emptive strength and breadth.

Coming from Eastern Europe at the age of 20, I felt like anything is possible. It is not perfect and I have learned that throughout the years, but I have also learned a lot about many other systems around the world. I studied master in Germany 2015/16, moved back to Eastern Europe, supposedly for a year to work online and spend time with family, Cofid hit and the stay was prolonged. Now it is about time to move back to the US and I can not wait. Europe is so much more difficult in so many aspects. It is more expensive, it is confining and claustrophobic, and all other kinds of phobic. America truly is the land of the free and the brave. @@ste2442mate watch any of his live shows or clips on KZfaq he's one of the funniest, the way he interacts with the crowd is amazing, a lot of comedians get thrown off with crowd interacting he thrives off it

Jimmy wouldn't shut up and was quite rude as he kept interrupting Joe. Think Joe found this one a struggle and was glad when he finally ended it.

@@craighart9278 Hahaha true, then again he has had Elon Musk and Neil Degrass Tyson on enough by now that his patience for interruptions is well honed.

I'm glad Jimmy expressed his thoughts on America, I would also like Ricky Gervais to be interviewed by Joe to talk about things like this, that would be an interesting episode with Ricky as a guest.
