@@machivellisucstwogo7103 You'd severely injure your wrist trying to swing a forehand like Nadal does (with a wooden racket). I feel like it should be almost mandatory to start out on a heavy wooden racket to learn fundamentals before progressing to the luxuries of the modern era. My groundstrokes improved a ton when my coach in highschool had us alternate between wooden rackets and our racket of choice. It's like resistance training but for tennis strokes.

3:38 Unbelievable racket head speed on that DTL forehand. All with that incredibly heavy T2000. For those of you who haven’t tried playing with one of those you might not get just how impressive that shot is.

The point versus Panata is always underrated. Not only was it a great shot, it came at a critical point of the match. Still, the Haarhuis point deserves to be #1. Jimmy Connors will always be my favorite tennis player.

Back in the late 80s, Connors was trying to transition to the more modern, midsized graphites, but had a lot of difficulties trying to adjust. In fact, the original Wilson ProStaff (later called the 6.0) was designed for Connors in 1983, but he never got used to it, and continued with the T-2000 for a few years. So Chris Evert made the ProStaff her racquet of choice.

Jimmy Connors what a beautiful man!! Best American champ 4 3 decades multiple USO win on 3 different surfaces (grass green clay n' hard courts) hundreds of days #1, more than 100 titles etc He set the audience on fire bcuz of his brave heart n' fiery personality. Along with Nadal, Connors is d GCompetitorOAT ♡♧◇♤

Wimbledon 1975 final. Arthur Ashe figured it out. He gave Jimmy a diet of pure junk, mid court short balls, with slice, obligating Jimmy to impart all the pace. Result, Arthur Ashe won his first and only Wimbledon title.

The one with Lendl in 92 is suppose how you able to beat Connors. Connors love pace so you gave him junk balls, forced him to make his own, led to mistake or forced him to get to the net (at your own risk given Connors was great net player for baseliner). Against today player who bashing balls, Connors will have a field day

Yup. Kids think that today's power hitters would blow away guys from the 80's. Connors would eat up that pace and spit it back at them even harder. He played Agassi pretty tightly when he was nearly 40.

I remember both Jimmy Connors and John Mcenroe getting intense on the court like nobody ever before, but in the end, the fans loved Connors but not Mcenroe.

You can see him physically contort himself to get the shot he wanted out of the shitty racquet technology they had at the time. Nowadays, those shots are made easy with even a kid racquet.

Who can forget Jimmy Connors getting a “perm” late in his career? There have been many hair atrocities committed by all-star tennis athletes through the decades. I won’t single Jimmy out, but he was guilty of some severe hair crimes in the 70’s and 80’s.
