In this woodworking project video, I create a bar and two tables from old vintage doors that I had in storage. These doors were once used in my 200 year old farm house. I also use some of the original material left over from the restoration of the porch in the front of my house. Bulleit asked me to create furniture for an activation using all recycled materials. We also visit the local junk yard for some sheet metal!
Thank you!

The author does like to kzfaq.infoUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

I want to be Jimmy Diresta when I grow up, which would be a fine goal if I wasn't older than he is. I can't decide if watching him work inspires me or discourages me. It's not just the skill but the creativity that seems unattainable.

Doesn’t matter. I once replaced the glass top of an IKEA sidetable with a piece of oak, and even though I didn’t create much, it was successful and satisfying. Just go and build something, chances are it’ll be worth it.

I agree with the other commenters here. I find that experience builds more skill, which in turn builds more satisfaction, which in turn drives more projects, which in turn drives more experience....and so on.

i hear ya! i'm younger than he is. I'm not as creative as he is! i can cut two boards. they're both 5ft. put them on their ends to compare them, one will always be 1/16in off. Jimmy looks like he's throwing things together and it all fits!

Looks nice and rustic if all you're going to do is look at them. I don't know why you would use a door for a bar or a table. You'll probably ask yourself the same question the first time someone sets their drink or bottle down on the uneven surface and spills their drink or their bottle falls over. It might work if you put a sheet of thick glass on top or resurface the top with flat boards like what was done to the front of the bar. Or just leave it as it is and keep a bunch of rags or wipes handy to wipe up all the spilled messes.

Very cool look, using all those reclaiimed boards! Nice touch, leaving the door knobs on 😄 Don't know if it might have been a good idea to flood the tops of the tables with clear epoxy, so you'd still see the old doors, but the surface would be even and smooth... I can imagine placing your drink where the panel meels the rail/stile it would cause your glass to tip over? Maybe it was a time/budget decision not to?
