We've always wanted a trampoline, but I didn't want it to be above the ground and have to move it every time I cut the grass. There are a few options for putting trampolines in the ground, but most are so expensive. We found a cheaper option and ran with it. I think it turned out really well.
This is the build directions/material suggestions that we followed (for the most part):

Jimmy did you consider taking out the leg extensions to lower the depth needed? Something I’m considering. Also if you put the wood and sheet metal on the inside do you think allowing the soil to settle over the bars would give more support?

Great video Jimmy! I just did the same project last month but didn't think about drainage which nobody ever talks about. So what you end up with is a 3ft deep retention pond in your backyard. Please comment back on what happens after your first rain. I ended up getting an automatic utility pump which I buried in a plastic square bucket in the middle/low spot and I ran a hose into some 3" pvc (10ft piece) which jets out from the trampoline right underneath the edge of the top frame. That seems to have solved my water problem because before that the entire pit filled with water.

I'm fortunate enough to have neighbors who have access to excavators. My neighbor was kind enough to do that work for a plate of cookies. Obviously that's not going to be the case for most people. You can rent smaller, mini excavators, or you can look around on your local classifieds to see if anyone offers that kind of service.

It was a lot of work! I enjoyed it though. When you put a trampoline in the ground you need to have some way to retain the surrounding dirt. Keeps it from settling in to the pit. We did it this way because it was half the price of buying a pre-fabricated wall.

Thanks. I'm not sure there are much differences in either choice, but I wanted to be able to back fill with quite a bit of gravel to ensure drainage, and I've since put some leftover sand material in there. We're getting ready to start this type of project this spring/summer. We bought a house that had an 8000 gallon pond in the backyard. We gave away all the pond equip and drained the pond. Silver lining is that we don't really have to dig out a hole to bury the trampoline. My question is this - was there an advantage to using the sheet metal instead of metal mesh and landscape fabric? I've seen it done both ways.
@JimmyLewisMows
@JimmyLewisMows 4 жыл бұрын

The retaining wall needs to go all the way up to the top of frame or at least above grade and inch otherwise soil will still fill in the hole as water pulls it in. They also make trampolines specifically for this. Also the center is only part that needs to be deep. Make it bowl shaped because obviously the edges aren’t going to go down 3 feet. Since your retaining wall isn’t high enough you now have a gap between soil and actual trampoline. This is an accident waiting to happen.
