I think the scorpion was a reference to the parable about the frog and the scorpion about how the scorpion asked the frog to carry it across the river. The frog agrees and while crossing the river the scorpion stings the frog and they both die, because the scorpion can't resist its own nature to lash out, even when it means self destruction.

After that, I think he stopped feeling any guilt about becoming “the killer” Logan said he’d never be, even if Roman (and Shiv) are casualties in the process.

This episode turned into a car bomb explosion created by truth bombs and I loved every second of it.

This is just the best show on tv at the moment. It's amazing how every episode feels so action-packed even though there is no "action". These dialogues are just so well done, it's on a Tarantino or Sorkin level imo.

The fight between Tom and Shiv was for sure a back breaker.

Kendall has placed himself in the best position as of right now because he hasn't let his father's passing overcome him. Roman has completely lost it and is spiraling. Shiv keeps stowing over the fact that her and Logan weren't in a good place when he died and it's causing her to spiral and she HATES Tom for that and blames him so they were never going to actually work if they got back together. Plus she once again placed her cart to the wrong horse and it backfired on her ass cuz even if Lukas wasn't a bullshitter, he was never going to give her a big role. Kendall, I do believe actually wanted to and tried to do this with Roman, but when Roman let Shiv get in his head and bailed on him ONCE AGAIN, I think that was the moment Ken cut Roman off, and he cut Shiv off after her reaction to his name being on the piece of paper, he knew then he could never trust her but he had faith in Roman until Roman let him down as well, now he feels he's gotta go at it alone LIKE ALWAYS.

Succession will end up with Breaking Bad, Sopranos, The Wire etc as a TV show of our era.

A few observations I had watching this: -"It's all for them" Kendall continuing the cycle like his father. -"You're not Logan, and that's a good thing" such a W line from Nate. Hopefully Kendall can see it and not be Logan and break the cycle -Look up the story of the frog and the scorpion, it makes the Shiv/Tom fight much deeper -Kendall's finally learning (it seems) to play the game. Finding balance of a killer and his act of a woke saviour. And he's a little more confident with his crowd work. Especially when shooting at Mattson -Roman's lack of faith in Kendall has probably cause Kendall to cut them out of his plan to acquire GoJo. "One head, one crown". -Frank and Ken have a underrated relationship, Frank stands by Kendall the most. Being his godfather gives them a genuine connection, even in season 1 when Frank supported the vote of no-confidence -Gerri's last line to Roman makes him snap at Connor, just like Mattson made him snap on the mountain top. -Ken seeing Roman treat Connor and Willa like that puts a lack of faith in Roman (in Kendall's mind). And it's nice seeing Kendall being a big brother and (attempting to) check Roman when he's going off at Con and Willa. "Rom. Easy". Just a few things I thought was very interesting

Frank is the original Kendall ride or die!

Kendall & Shiv know how to define themselves outside of Logan. Roman doesn't. Everything Roman does feels like an attempt to invoke Logan, without understanding him. When Logan fired Gerri, it was a chess move. When Roman did it, it was flippant & irrational. When Logan would talk down to people it was an act of domination. When Roman tried to talk down to Connor it was impotent flailing.

Shiv Did care if Tom went to jail though. She lost her favor with Logan Because she asked him not to choose Tom. She only agreed because later they discussed that no one would probably go to jail but it would make an impression on Logan if he offered.

For some reason I am suspicious of Ebba Mattson's communications person. He treats her so badly, I can't imagine anyone putting up with it. When he told Shiv about the blood bricks. I thought it was a trick to see if she would tell her brothers . When she didn't, I thought he was just going to use her as a his girl on the inside. The fact that he didn't have an offer for her is proof. If He was seriously bringing her into the fold he would have planned a place for her. Mattson is playing games but I think he is trying to take out all the kids. Have them try to tank the deal and get them in trouble with the SEC and then take the company at a lower price. Ebba saying that he is not a coder, and he inflated the numbers and somehow Roman found out about the blood stuff. All this coming out at this party is too convenient.

My nerves are shot. I am DYING for the next episode because Jesse Armstrong said it’s the most shocking, in his opinion. I can’t even imagine!!! This was epic. As a person whom had horrible parent’s (including 4 bad mom’s), I can tell you, when you’re a nervous wreck having your own child, with every insecurity you’re going to Eff it up because of how you were raised, what Tom said was a KO. Because it meant so much to her knowing she is pregnant. It stung harder. And some people aren’t meant to have kids. Did Kendall call his daughter? For me, being a mom helped me become all I’d hoped for as a kid, for my own child. He’s the best thing that ever happened, & I healed over time with his love. At 17, he is my greatest imaginable joy. Idk if Shiv would be capable of this. Great reaction! Can’t wait for next week. #teamroman - even tho Im terrified how unhinged he is right now.

God I fucking love this season. It's been a great show for a while but this is the season that's solidified it for me as one of the greats.

This episode right here! Wow! I am a Shiv and Tom fan and that episode gave me hope, in the beginning. By the end, I was in shock but there is so much anger and distrust there, ain't that much to save, I guess. I still cannot stand Matteson's gross ass, Shiv should have known better. Just found your channel and I look forward to your Succession reviews as much as I do watching the actual episodes!

Honestly, everything kind of broke this episode. Shiv and Tom imploded. Roman got served. The Mattson/Kendall drama is really spilling over. Everything is coming out of their box.

I think it was in the official Succession Podcast that someone mentioned that Shiv doesn’t believe in love. So even though everything Shiv and Tom said to each other is true we know that even though Tom is everything Shiv said he was he does actually love her. I think Shiv genuinely thinks it’s another manipulation tactic and I think that’s why she can never open up to Tom. I feel like Shiv really thinks that if you like me great but if you say you love me what do you really want from me. Who do you think will “win” and who do you think will actually win? By “win” I mean who will be in charge of the company at the end and who will get out of the company with there money. Because let’s be honest none of the kids will even be able to attempt to heal unless they are free from there fathers shadow. I’m basing this on the Murdocks one of the kids I’m guessing Kendal takes over the company but repeats the same cycle with his kids. Roman might leave the business but continue to vote on the board and Shiv might leave with her money. I’m not certain this will happen to the exact characters but I feel like it’s the most plausible. I don’t love the idea of Shiv leaving because of her kid but she was pretty successful before the show when she was working in politics. It makes me think she might decide to walk away because she was probably happiest then. I think Murdocks daughter who Shiv is based on decided to leave the company as well. If you ever want to laugh check out Murdocks relationship timeline it gave me a good chuckle.

Hmmm, I think this is a set up by Matsson because he ACTUALLY wants the Roy's to buy his failing company. And ultimately I think that will bury both companies.

Shiv turns my stomach and has done for pretty much the whole series. Matsson also makes me wanna puke.

I think it’s strange that not one of the Logan siblings are picking up on the fact that Lukas, Ebba and Oskar are plying them like a fiddle. It’s not quite in character for all three to be so dense.

I think the display of discontent among Mattson's ranks is contrived, and the India information is bait.

After this episode I am convinced that none of these characters deserve a "happy ending" except for Tom lol. Team Tom!

Season 1 ended with the waiter and the cover up. Season 3 ended with this being brought back up after not being mentioned for awhile. Kendall coming clean. His dinner with Logan. He’s becoming the smart and capable man his father never thought he would be and would succeed, if it wasn’t for what happened at the end of S1. It’s going to come out somehow, right? I can’t imagine they’d just leave that plot point unfinished.

So Rome has to resign because he cos played as Anthony Weiner, Shiv went all in on a Snake Oil sales man, and I'm thinking that the S1 Death is coming back to sabotage Ken. Connor wins the game of thrones

I think Mattson is gonna punk all three of them. They are still not serious people, nothing has changed. edit: And out of four of them, I'm actually starting to like, well "like" might be strong, understand Connor. He's just a rich douche who stays out of it, has his kinks with politics, actual somewhat working relationship (out of all them, btw), doesn't pretend to be "saviour of the world".
