Roman ran out and provoked the protesters as a way to punish/hurt himself. He knows he fucked up at the funeral but unlike his other fuckups, Logan is no longer around to berate and abuse him for it. He sought out violence against himself to feel something close to what he's used to receiving from Logan when he does badly.

It's easy to see why Kieran Culkin won all the awards this past week for this episode. His portrayal of Roman this entire season was amazing and it all culminated in this episode. We all knew Roman didn't actually pre-grieve and his breakdown was coming, but damn if he didn't take us all down with him.

I'd like to remind Zuff that Roman was physically abused by Logan. That kind of trauma on top of everything else the kids were put through can result in many kinds of reactions that may appear slightly off or unusual. Roman puts on a front 99% of the time as a self defence mechanism. I'm not surprised you find it hard to have empathy for a bunch of sick, twisted billionaires but people are complicated, multifaceted beings and everyone deserves a little understanding about how they came to he who they are. I love your wild and out there reactions most of the time but the reaction to the funeral scene was rough. Said with all due respect and admiration for who you are though ❤

Mans really didn't know why Romans voice was like that smh... it was like Roman's inner child was coming out and it was such a realistic way to fighting the feeling of wanting to break down until he just couldn't do it anymore and man that scene with Roman damn near broke me on first watch because he hasn't shown a real spec of sadness or grief the entire show. But jeez laughing at Roman during that scene kind of rubbed me the wrong way it just seemed really tone deaf to the context of the entire show but its what it is, im glad at least 2 of you could really see what was going on.

What I don't think Zuff is picking up (with many other things honestly) is the actual meaning behind every one of the siblings trying to become CEO and making moves all the time to achieve that, including during his fathers funeral. They're not trying to get that spot for the money or the prestige that comes with it, as Ken says when Matsson told him he wanted to make him rich, they already are. But this battle for the top job really symbolizes the battle for Logan's approval, which is what they never got from him during his living days, so the top job is the closes thing to getting his approval now that he's dead. Really like your reactions, but it's really off-putting when Zuff acts like a toddler during the most intense and emotionally-heavy moments of any show/film.

The reason Roman is afraid of Logan so often in the show is because he abused him as a child, so Ewan humanizing his abuser like that made Roman emotional. Made him view his father as more than a monster. It’s never confirmed in the show, but many have speculated that Roman suffered some kind of sexual abuse as a child. He displays several symptoms of CSA survivors, including making the inappropriate sexual jokes about his family. Given many of the old timers Logan used to hang around with (the “Wolf Pack” ) were known rapists and molesters, it’s not crazy to think Roman might’ve fallen prey to one of them

Can't believe we're almost at the end. I agree with Zuff that Logan is terrible and if this was real life and I heard about some billionaire conservative media mogul dying, I would not give a shit about him or his kids but because of watching the Roy kids for 4 seasons, I really feel bad for them. To Rob's point about Shiv and Tom, I think the love is there but on the subject of "love" in this show, it's not expressed in a way that is healthy, normal, or warm. Like with the kids, they love each other and Brian Cox and the writers believe that Logan genuinely loved his kids. That's always been the thing with Succession, that line between business and personal. Kendall emotionally abusing Roman is also a Logan move to try to get Roman to act which makes me feel even sadder for Rroman. Anway, this is Kieran Culkin's Emmy winning episode, he crushed it. The lady who played Sally Ann is Brian Cox's wife in real life. Back when this was filmed, Brian Cox was hanging out outside the church so he was attending Logan's funeral too lmao. I also love how as soon as the boys find out Shiv is pregnant they start making digs at her, playful (Roman in the car) and offensive (Kendall at the repass with calling her "super mom" in a sarcastic way)

Your reactions are all genius. We get to see three completely different views on whatever we are watching. Bryce has pure heart, Rob has always held the group with his knowledge and wit, and Zuff has his out of pocket humor. If ANYONE is angry for how any of these people choose to react then you don’t understand how the mind works. In this episode we watch three siblings respond differently to a situation taking place, correct? How the hell can you expect every single person to watch this and react the same way? I’ll tell you. You can’t. So Zuff, I get you- sometimes when we don’t know how we feel, we laugh. Rob- we get anxiety from other people doing stupid things on the screen. Bryce- We cry, sometimes, when it hits regarding family (especially father/son) I’m sorry that other people are angry about anything that you guys have done, I am only sending you all good vibes. "You fucked it" Well guys, it's been fun, but this was my last time at Reel Time. Zuff does not have the self-awareness or emotional intelligence to do this job, and it's such a shame because I always, always, always love the focus and intellect and skill of Bryce and Rob's reactions. Doing this kind of content is a tightrope walk of knowing how to be both insightful and entertaining without detracting from the intent of the original creative team, and I'm afraid the concept is just too far above Zuff's head for you guys to ever achieve being a truly GREAT channel. None of this is rocket science, you're literally watching TV and movies for views, but any reaction channel that has to so frequently tell their co-host "dude, shut up" has completely missed the point of what makes other channels more successful. I'm sure PLENTY of people will continue to watch your videos, but I'm sorry to admit that you guys lost me on a channel that was so aggravatingly 2/3 great.

People are blowing Zuff's reaction way out of proportion and running with it...I know it can feel bad when you anticipate a particular scene, can't wait to see people react to it, and then it happens to get an out-there response, or in some way detracts from the moment, like with happening to talk over something, or etc...and I think that sting is what's making people go so IN on Zuff about it. People getting mad that Zuff didn't react the way 'they wanted' is so stupid. The whole point is that we see a variety of reactions, each of the guys with their own feelings on what unfolds, and Zuff said it, he didnt feel empathy for Roman, or any of the kids, so his reaction was true to that. Its not a slight on the writing or the actor, which everyone seems to be taking personally. Later in the show we see Karl and co. laughing at Romans meltdown, so basically Zuff embodied the reaction that someone who really knew the character had, which is a testament to how good the acting has been, to feel so involved.

It's not stupid to want reactors to pay attention and try to understand the show they are watching. Zuff didn't laugh because he doesn't like Roman. He said himself, he laughed because Roman was doing a funny voice. He thought Roman was doing a joke, and that's why he laughed. He stopped laughing when he realized it was not a joke, and Roman was suffering. He isn't invested in this show and doesn't really care about this story anymore. It could be any person giving that speech, even Karl, and he would have laughed too because he doesn't care about Succession, he is on pilot mode on this show. For example, at the end of last episode he asked why Mencken was so bad. Lool. He isn't paying attention. That's why he laughed. Anyone paying attention and trying to understand the characters would have understood that it wasn't a time to laugh.
@lunabirdlove
@lunabirdlove 5 ай бұрын
Hard disagree. I feel like you'd have room to think this if Bryce didn't ask him "What's funny?" and zuffs response was "his voice is funny." So it wasn't that Zuff didn't know how to process what he was witnessing because Roman hadn't cried and let out all his grief for the first time, so he decided to laugh. No, he told us why he was laughing and it was a ridiculous reason.

I actually really appreciate Zuff’s reaction to Roman’s speech. I like that he didn’t pretend to give a shit just because it was an emotional scene. Roman and Logan are both despicable human beings and for some people that overrides the tears. Either way, he’s entitled to feel and speak freely just as anyone else would. It’s insane that people are seriously acting like he’s only supposed to react the way they want. Like, how dare he not feel the exact same way you do… Fucking crazy. 🙄

Nah. He didn't laugh because he hated Roman. He laughed because he found his voice funny. He wasn't listing or paying attention to what was happening. And it isn't just that scene. It's the entire show. He doesn't care about anything that happens in the show. He has been done with Succession for a long time. Nobody is mad because he hates Roman. People are mad because he doesn't really care about anything anymore. That scene is emotional because it's the most pivotal moment for this character that we have been following for 4 seasons, it doesn't matter if Roman is horrible person, we aren't supposed to be laughing at the characters every time something bad happens to them because that would take all the emotion away from the show. Bad things happened before with the Roy kids, and he didn't laugh? Why? Because he didn't find their voices funny before.

@@kassiogomes8498 I didn’t say anything about hate. They’re meant to be awful people and if for him that means he is unaffected by their pain then so be it. It doesn’t really even matter what the reason is. He didn’t feel the same way others felt and people getting mad about it is ridiculous. And so what if he doesn’t care? That’s the risk you take committing to blind reactions. He’s supposed to fake it because people only want to see him react a certain way? Lol I really don’t need your explanation of why it’s an emotional scene. It is pretty obvious and I did watch the series. And no, it doesn’t take emotion away from the show at all. The emotion is in the writing and the acting. They can try their hardest but they can’t control what affects people or how. No one is obligated to feel what was intended regardless of any actual emotional impact or pretend that they do. You had your turn watching it, this is his.
