I am prepared to play any game that has a minigame called “Pong of the Gods”

The family that slays together stays together.

This is one of those games that made me miss Total Biscuit. I'm certain he would have loved it.

I get the feeling that Jim likes this game.

I remember hearing from a dev who was watching streams of this game and as saying how happy his team was that everyone playing it was getting attached to the characters they had spent YEARS of their lives with.

Saw the vid, went off to buy ; was pleasantly surprised at the fairly low price. Played it for a hours, slept a little then came back to comment. This game proves it's not me who has become jaded after 35+ years of gaming. It really is _you_, the mostly empty husk of a gaming industry sucked dry by monetizing AAA vampires, that ruined our relationship. Jim is right, this game is really good. Great gameplay, atmospheric and the story ticked all the right boxes for me as a middle-aged family man. Thank God for you, Jim Sterling. May you find the strenght to keep on fighting.

I’ve felt burnt out from TRIPLE-EH! games for years at this point. When I see a game like this it brings a slight bit of warmth to my heart that I desperately cling to like Gwyn and his cinder.

Children of Morta has quickly became one of my favorite games of the year. Bounced off of it when I initially picked it up, but was okay with that because my initial draw was how gorgeous it was and was happy enough to support it even just for that. Then after I pushed through some of my backlog and gave it some proper time, oh wow did it open up and give me a big old hug. It just feels right, there's always progression, the combat grows on you, and it continues to astound visually.

Your impressions videos just keep getting better. I appreciate the level you dig into the games and the explanations on deeper systems. And all with a nice pinch of cheeky humor!

this game has the exact amount of depth and relaxation i needed these days, not so complicated and not so hardcore, which i know some people criticized for being "shallow", would love to see a couple of DLCs soon.

Heard you talk about this on Podquisition. Piqued my interest at the time; but then I forgot about it. Seeing it really sold me. This game looks beautiful.

Always nice to hear Jim talk about the stuff he loves. It's because of that I've played a lot of these games (Dead Cells, Binding of Issac, Sexy Brutale). I don't know if I would have even noticed this game if it wasn't for Jim. He got me into Roguelikes and it seems he found another one I'll likely enjoy. I'm definitely gonna have to play this. Thanks for pointing us in the directions of good indie games that we may never otherwise hear of. I add many of them to my Steam wishlist. But I really miss the good old Jimpressions of shitty games with very little editing, it was very fun and the lack of editing made it feel like I was experiencing the game with you. Please do more of those !!

I bought this game on your recommendation and I finally got around to playing it. It was fucking EXCELLENT. I cannot say enough good things about this game. Everything just feels so good and the music and art direction are pitch perfect and unique. That ending made me feel things too

I'm glad to hear that there's a good sense of progression with this game. My usual problem with roguelikes is that I hate beating my head against the wall for several minutes and not getting anywhere.

Finished this a few weeks ago and yep it's a keeper. Really good.

I played the demo a while back, it is really good indeed.

First off, how did you know I just got out of the shower? And second, I didnt know this kind of animation could still be so expressive. The movement of the clothes and hair is really nice.

Longest time lurker peeking out of the shadows to say that this review's pretty spot on. If you have the cash to spare, go on and try the game out on steam and hopefully you'll enjoy the atmospheric and heartfelt content of this game. It's been a while since I just kept playing... And playing some more. Thought I'd take a break from it and suddenly I realize I'm playing it again because I really wanted to. I'm actually bit sad that I managed to burn through the story so fast over the course of five days. I still have to unlock all the skills of the family and find few more secrets, but I still crave more and I think this is one of the few occasions where I really hope for more in form of DLC if it just can be done in a manner that doesn't feel like it's there to stretch out the content but truly add to it. Thanks Jim and 11 bit studios for time well spent.

I’ve been meaning to pick this up. Played the demo and loved it, however I was upset to find out it was local co-op only. But now steam has the beta for online co-op for local co-op games sooooo rejoice!

Id just like to thank Jim, i know these vids are not as popular as the more negative stuff, but its great to hear about good games to play as well.

Less than a minute into Jim's screed (after the musical intro was done) I paused the video, went to Steam, and wishlisted this game. I'll keep an eye on this one because Jim says so. And I'm betting this is one for the year's end "Best Games" list, or I'll eat my shoes.
