The emotional weight of the whole enlistment thing didn't hit me til i saw this mv and i cried for like 2hrs. The next night he performed it live and it cried more. I still tear up at this mv.

The little girl represent Army...she around 9 years old and similar with army's age...Jin gave army helmet to protect them, and Jin tought army to trust in theirselves and he did it...Jinaaaaah....you are not leaving yet but I miss u already😢😢😢

In this case, it was a pick up truck (reminiscence of the ones in their MV) that finally stopped and took him "home" In a way, Jin was like a lost astronaut that happened to crash land on earth which was unfamiliar to him just like how he ended up as a part of BTS without ever dreaming for such a path. It was unfamiliar and he was unsure about it (that was the reason why he had a stoic expression most of the time) until he met the little girl (army) who cherished him and to whom he taught things only to realise later how they both made each other happy. Towards the end, Jin looks hopeful and eager as he hears the sound of the bicycle bell which indicates that the little girl(army) is waiting right outside (fun fact: the first option for the fandom name they had was "bells" and they later changed it to ARMY) ; that when he returns back from the military, army will be waiting for him. Jin’s a gem. His voice conveys emotions so much. He’s a powerful vocalist. He gave up on enlisting in summer for us. To give us one last concert in Busan. Now our poor baby needs to endure boot camp in winter. My wishes will be for him to be warmly dressed, plentiful delicious food and have unlimited stock of hand warmers. Same, Alyssa. Same. I’ve literally cried every time I’ve watched the MV or streamed the track. Jin poured his heart into it, which reverberates through his beautiful voice and the touching lyrics. Knowing that he wrote “The Astronaut” as a farewell love letter for ARMY deepens the meaning even more. He’s trying to reassure us when it should be us comforting him. When they announced that BTS will be enlisting starting with Jin, ARMYs got mixed emotions but majority of us were like "finally, the military debate has ended. They've been dragged so much about this and ppl can all finally shut up". Deep in our hearts, we knew this day would come and will support them no matter what. This is the most beautiful way to say I live be you Army see you in a bit. I think of it as Jin’s way of saying he’s left us a helmet and we will be ok we know how to ride a bike without him he’s working and running to get back to us. It’s a beautiful life lesson.

All this didn't really hit me until the live with Coldplay. I cry a lot and I get teary eyed every time I listen to the song so ofc I cried again with you. The fact that he did this to give us comfort and love makes me cry even more.

There were other Easter eggs in the MV too like Chris Martin as the news reporter, the guitar that Chris gave to Jin, the braille tattoo on Jin's neck for Army and the black squares in the puzzle is also For Army, the little girl representing Army and the pick up truck that he rode in is reminiscent of the pickup truck in previous BTS's MVs and the most recent in Yet to come with his BTS brothers...but this time he's alone 😢.

You guys also are full of sensitivity and sincerity 💜 Others have already suggested the live performance with Coldplay, so I'll suggest other songs that might invoke a similar vibe/feeling: - Jamais Vu by Jin, J-Hope and JK - Heartbeat (the music vid is kind of them being in an alternate universe where they never met to become BTS together). - Make It Right (there's a version ft. lauv and another version without him) - Zero O'Clock by the vocal line (primarily written by RM) - Louder Than Bombs is more haunting/dark than sad - Outro: Tear by the 3 rappers (they wrote it for the other members when BTS was going through a hard time a few years ago and considering disbanding). If you want something that will cheer you up and make you laugh, I recommend their latest Run BTS episode where they went to try flying yoga. There's 2 parts to it. Very entertaining lol.

This video had a lot of Easter eggs. The crossword puzzle includes ASTRONAUT, STARS, MOON, ARMY, COZY, & at the end Jin fills in FAMILY. It doesn't actually fit, further emphasizing the alien theme. The dark spaces in the crossword puzzle spell out 'for ARMY' in braille as does a tatoo on Jin's neck? I don't know. I can't read braille & so far I haven't caught the tatoo. I may be stretching. Jin has been coming for me since Epiphany & this put me over the top. He is now my second bias wrecker along side Hobie. The little girl is on a purple bike & wearing a purple helmet., & appears to be about 9 years old - same age as ARMY. There is a 'My Universe' poster in Jin's room and the guitar is the one Chris Martin gave him. Chris Martin is the newscaster & also the driver of the pick-up truck. I haven't been able to make out the house#, but it's bound to mean something. Nothing is random in a BTS MV. I have been told that the neighborhood is the set from 'Desperate Housewives', but I never watched the show so I can't confirm it & the spaceship locale was outside LA. Could Jin's bicycle be an 'E.T.' reference? Most likely, I probably missed a ton of other references. I think there were BTS references, but I haven't figured them out.

Cried so much - every time I have heard it

My first time watching the MV was in my work break room and I was fighting back my tears, lol! Then later that night I watched the live performance at Coldplay's concert in theater. I cried so much when he started singing!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Recently I saw a Tiktok edit that broke me once again!!! I believe it used the auto clip from The Office when Michael was leaving. It' had Jim as ARMY and Michael as Jin. ARMY - "Let me take you out to lunch for your last day. You're not leaving tomorrow, you're leaving today right?" JIn - "Maybe. Why am a so sad? Am I doing the wrong thing?" ARMY - "Absolutely not. It's just that sometimes... Goodbyes are a b*tch." 😭😭 The creator had clips of Jin for the background and added subtitles to make it relate to Jin's enlistment!! I literally start tearing up when I even think about it.🥺

I didn't get tears with the music video. He bias wrecked me for sure with it, but I didn't cry. YET ... Live... with Coldplay assisting him? That hit different. God... I sobbed. Seeing the glistening of Jin's eyes and knowing it was his last performance... I was a total mess.

Personally I love the live performance, though I bawled like crazy watching it a few times. It's his last live performance and won't be back until after his enlistment. Coldplay really gave him the best send off stage and he truly enjoyed it. And not everyone in the audience are ARMYs, but they all sang and supported Jin while performing. For me, it was both comforting and bittersweet. It’s like, you’re sad about the army enlistment and that they won’t be back as a group until 2025, but then Jin comes out with this lovely, beautiful, and comforting song telling us that he’ll always come back home to ARMY and then you’re feeling a weird amalgamation of sadness and comfort. I actually got to listen to this release while I was on a vacation in South Korea so it was kind of extra surreal and special. Jin really is a sweetheart and has talked about ARMY as his Earth before in his song called Moon. Really all the guys know just how to console us and help us get through tough times, so I know that they’ll have stuff planned these next two years that’ll make it go by so fast. As two musicians you must react to his live performance in Argentina with Coldplay, I think You will get a lot from it. You MUST see Chris Martins speech first, it gives everything context. Afterwards see the short docu of BTS and Coldplay when they made My Universe and lastly watch the really interesting talk between Pharrell Williams and RM they just did for Rolling Stones magazine. They are going to collaborate on a song soon.

Jin crashed into Earth with others of his kind. He, eventually, adapted and started living life as a human, though he is very different from others (shows very little human emotion -even while running-, is basically ignored by those around him. Then, one day, he sees his spaceship's beam go up in the sky once again. He knows it's time to go back to his own planet. So he dresses in the suit he wore when he arrived and takes his space helmet with him. Upon leaving the house, he finds a little girl and gives her his helmet. He goes to the crash-site and we get lots of little snippets of his life on Earth. We come to understand that the little girl was his (seemilgy) only friend on Earth, she turned this planet into Home and taught him how to live. Whatever little emotion he expresses in the video, it's because the girl caused him happiness. He ultimately decides to stay, because he knows he's already home, that girl made it into home. The story can be interpreted as his journey as an idol and how he found BTS and ARMY to be his home. He crash-landed into an industry he didn't know, where he felt like an alien (Whalien 52, BTS have expressed this sentiment before), but he eventually found something that made it into a home. ARMY was his solace in a place where he felt he didn't belong. And now, he's going somewhere far from ARMY. But he is trying to come back, he consciously decides to come back to us. So it kind of signifies and captures a small detail of the timeline of BTS and ARMY, in a sense. - The girl is around 9-10 years old..the same as ARMYS age as the fandom was formed around 10 years back -If you look closely there is a braille tattoo on his neck and it reads "ARMY" - The suit Jin wears at the beginning of the MV resembles the one he wore to the first day of school in real life (there is a photo of 4-year-old him wearing a suit that looks exactly like that). The kid's drawing on the wall shows him wearing the same suit once again. It's basically to show his past and innocence, reminiscence of his lyrics from "Yet to come" : "Somewhere deep inside your heart, there still lives a young boy" - The blackened-out spaces on the crossword (in braille) reads "For ARMY" - The guitar you see in his room is the same guitar Chris Martin signed and gifted Jin when they met. Chris also made a cameo on the MV as the news anchor. - If you notice when he was on the street people ignored him but the "astronaut" caught his attention. Jin was cast on the streets randomly by a Bighit staff who saw him get off the bus. He never intended to be a kpop-idol and never auditioned. So the astronaut here could represent the company itself who found him literally on the street one day. - The shot of his room has elements that represent all BTS members - Books = Namjoon, Guitar = Yoongi, Instant camera = Jhope, Flowerpot (like his "serendipity" bubble and an arrangement he did for Run BTS) = Jimin, Vinyl player/Boston bag= Taehyung, Speaker/Radio = Jungkook) They're all there, close to him. - Something I found really sweet is that the crossword puzzle reads: ARMY, FAMILY, MOON. ASTRONAUT, COZY, STAR.
- Jin also had a tattoo on his neck (temporary) that reads ARMY in braille. In a way, Jin was like a lost astronaut that happened to crash land on earth which was unfamiliar to him just like how he ended up as a part of BTS without ever dreaming for such a path. It was unfamiliar and he was unsure about it. Towards the end, Jin looks hopeful and eager as he hears the sound of the bicycle bell which indicates that the little girl is waiting right outside; that when he returns back from the military, ARMY will be waiting for him.

Yea it took quite a few listens before I’d stop crying lol. I still tear up at the video tho! It’s the weirdest feeling when you feel like your getting a warm hug and you’re happy, but at the same time, you feel like your hearts broken. It’s uplifting too tho.
